Product Overview

The Titen HD is a patented, high-strength, easy-to-install screw anchor for use in cracked and uncracked concrete, as well as uncracked masonry. The Titen HD offers low installation torque and outstanding performance. Designed and tested in dry, interior, non-corrosive environments or temporary outdoor applications, the Titen HD demonstrates industry-leading performance even in seismic conditions.
  • Qualified for static and seismic loading conditions
  • Thread design undercuts to efficiently transfer the load to the base material
  • Specialized heat-treating process creates tip hardness for better cutting without compromising the ductility
  • No special drill bit required - designed to install using standard-sized ANSI tolerance drill bits
  • Testing shows the Titen HD installs in concrete with 50% less torque than competitor anchors
  • Hex-washer head requires no separate washer, unless required by code, and provides a clean installed appearance
  • Mechanical Galvanized - intended for some pressure-treated wood sill plate applications; not for use in other corrosive or outdoor environments
  • Removable - ideal for temporary anchoring (e.g., formwork, bracing) or applications where fixtures may need to be moved
  • Caution: Use a Titen HD screw anchor one time only - installing the anchor multiple times may result in excessive thread wear and reduce load capacity

Are these mechanically galvanized (as opposed to SS) screws approved for use with treated lumber?

Asked by Rick February 9, 2021
1
Answer

THD anchors with mechanically galvanized finish can be used with preservative treated wood but we recommend to use them in interior dry conditions. These screw anchors are made of heat treated steel which is not recommended for exterior wet conditions. Consider using THD made of stainless steel. Copy and paste the following link into your web browser for information on stainless steel THD: https://www.strongtie.com/mechanicalanchors_mechanicalanchoringproducts/thdss_anchor/p/stainless-steel-titen-hd

I am wondering what the weight bearing load of this screw is.

Asked by Chris April 25, 2020

Answer

The Titen HD anchors are rated for tension and shear. There are several factors to be considered to determine the allowable load: concrete strength, bolt location, bolt spacing, local building codes, etc. Please feel free to contact our Engineering Support Department at 800-999-5099 for further assistance. Thank you!

We installed 26 fasteners in to 4000psi fiber reinforced concrete with 6" engagement. Using a Makita rotary/ hammer drill. We found the drill diameter was abraded to the point fasteners bound. Our solution was to pilot the holes with an older drill and final size the with a newer bit.

Great product. We used this for the mudsill on our new garage. Being able to install the anchors in between the studs after walls are placed sure beats cutting up the studs when the cast anchor bolts are in a bad spot.
