Product Overview

  • Provides a strong joint and helps construct straight corners
  • Constructed of 12-gauge steel for incredible strength
  • Corrosion-resistant material suitable for outdoor applications
Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our Z-MAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).
  • Provide a 90° connection for medium/heavy duty applications
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • 4 in. Height
  • Made from 12-Gauge steel
  • Z-MAX galvanization offers extra corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications
  • Install with 1/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SDS screws

Questions & Answers

Is the coating compatible with pressure-treated lumber?

Is the coating compatible with pressure-treated lumber?
Asked by: Chuck
Yes, it's compatible because it's galvanized. The zinc coating prevents the Z-Max L braces from rusting or decaying. It's alike the pressure treated process used in lumber to prevent rotting or pre-mature decay.

Can these be used inside a wall of a house?

Want to add 2x4s inside a wall to mount a range hood to them. Mounting holes don't line up to studs.
Asked by: Ifflman
I am not clear per the description above how they are intended be installed. If it is an alternate installation from what we detail in our catalog/on our website, it would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to evaluate. Thank you!

I wanted to add a casting deck to an aluminum jon boat. Would 8 of these hinges be strong enough to support 1-2 people on a 3/4" plywood with four 2" x 4" s?
Asked by: Hurley
We can only support the connectors for the type of installation they were designed/tested for and with the specified fasteners. The ML24Z requires 1/4"x1 1/2" Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws. Please visit our website or catalog for complete information on this product. Ultimately it would be up to the Designer to specify the appropriate connector for the specific application. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value I used these to strengthen some joists in an old home with a deteriorating ledger board attached to a wooden girder. I was originally going to use LS50 connectors, but they're actually more expensive and much thinner (16 ga vs 0.25 in) and I really liked the sturdiness. These took the bounce right out of the floor in the room I used them under. Home Depot's price is also much lower than I can even get them for from Amazon. Very happy with this purchase.
