where does a person get the filter system for this belt sander
Asked by: JCLIMER
It comes with it... If you mean a new filter to put in it, no idea. I just took the thing off, figured it would be clogged up real soon as I was sanding poly off floor that was wrong stain. Figured I'd have to clean anyway, what was a bit more. (Did wear super filter thing tho, at least I could change filter on that)

I am having trouble with the belt tracking. The adjustment screw lets me adjust the tracking so the belt doesn't run off the roller while using it but the belt is always sticking out from the rollers 1/2" to 1". I can't seem to get the belt to sit up against the housing body. Any ideas?
Asked by: Jake
Hi Jake, glad to help answer your question. I would try flipping the belt around & try it that way. Some sanding belts are directional in design. I hope this helped.

My belt "tracks" ok but the tension is way to loose. If I put any pressure (at all) on the piece I'm sanding the belt doesn't move. It just slips.

Comes with a roll of sandpaper. Amazing feel, it is nice and hefty. Heavy actually. Doesn't feel flimsy and does an amazing job sanding. I was so Impressed it's 2:44am and I needed to write this review lol. First time home owner/Sander owner. I am getting my tools to build a fence and other misc things and this a great addition to my Skil 20 Combo Kit. It came with a reciprocating saw, circular saw, a nice powerful LED light, a drill, two 2 Amp hour batteries AND a charger. This was a GREAT addition to that. Skil has been stepping it's game up with the new branding aimed at DIYers and home owners, I am in love with all of the products from them and this is no exception to the quality I have got from the other Skil products I have. Oh and no, I wasn't paid for this lol.

This is a great 18" belt sander for the DIYer and the pressure monitor is a great feature to help prevent scouring. The sander comes fully assembled and is a whiz to use. The trigger activates it and another button can lock the power on to ease the wear on your hand. It is light and easy to use. You let the sander do the work. I found the pressure indicator to be spot on, it turns red when you are applying too much pressure. Most dust stays on the wood and some entered the canister, mostly fine remnants. This sander is great for small vertical and horizontal projects. If you need a belt sander for large projects such as a floor, I would get a larger and more 'professional' one. The sander comes with one 80-grit sand paper roll already attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool Bought this tool to replace my 25+ year old reconditioned sander. Works great needed to sand down a 2×4 3/8 of an inch. Using 40 grit belt I was done in no time.. Super tool. If it last like my old one a real plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement I bought this as a replacement for an older model that quit working. It does a good job and I am very pleased with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Micro filter fails in less than hour of use - can't be replaced?!!! FAIL! Sander shreds belts no matter how often you adjust the screw to keep it on track. Filter failed (round end disc came unglued from filter and got blown clear out of the plastic container along with all the rest of the dust until I gave up on this thing. Sander gets hot... really really hot within minutes. Tried using sander for 10 minutes. (Adjusted belt 4 times per 10 minutes to attempt to get it to not shred belts). Vacuumed sander body out after tapping out the worthless dust reservoir and setting it aside to cool down. Discovered motor full of dust. Set sander in front of fan for an hour to cool down so I could use it again. Repeated this slow process four times with no improvement in performance. I didn't buy expensive belts so belt failure I could accept but the belts are failing... they are getting shredded. I will be returning this to the store from whence it came and getting a different model. I do not recommend. Not well thought out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Surprised Me To be fair, I probably couldn't give the most accurate review of this, but I will say something about it anyway, since I did use it for a very important job. My door in the house was tight when it closed on the side and top edge of the frame. I sanded from the deadbolt all the way to the top of the door, and over the top edge to the end. I made several passes and checks while closing and opening the door, and after about 7 passes....BA DA BING!!! DONE! I was so happy, my tenant was so happy the door closed beautifully. No gouges, no dust, nothing. Happy landlord, happy tenant. Price was reasonable too. I am a little alarmed about people talking about dust clogging in the filter though. But I didn't work it that much to honestly say anything about that. As a landlord, honestly, the only thing I really see myself using this for....is for sanding door edges so they close properly.
