I am having trouble with the belt tracking. The adjustment screw lets me adjust the tracking so the belt doesn't run off the roller while using it but the belt is always sticking out from the rollers 1/2" to 1". I can't seem to get the belt to sit up against the housing body. Any ideas?
Asked by: Jake
Hi Jake, glad to help answer your question. I would try flipping the belt around & try it that way. Some sanding belts are directional in design. I hope this helped.

With advanced dust collection cup with filter, it is ahead of the game. I bout this after my old vintage skil sander finally broke after 20 years of use. Lightweight and easy to use. The belts are also easy to replace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Belt Sander & Pressure Control Is Awesome! Bought this Sander for some home projects that needed doing. This is one very STOUT tool! It performs well & the added Pressure Control is nothing short of Awesome! The Sander came with a nice filter which was easily cleaned after the sanding was done. Another plus is that it isn't heavy or cumbersome to use. I would suggest to always wear Eye Protection as well as Hearing protection. The tool kept me from gouging my work & removed quite a bit of material with the 80 grit belt. The 120 & 240 grits really smoothed it out nicely. I did purchase a belt Cleaning Stick & it maintained the belt very well. I would suggest buying one too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from gets the job done. 2nd week owning this belt sander. in the competition of course black and decker is an absolute NO many bad expreinces with that name. however. this sander has some backdraws. 1 you will need an air compressor too blow the excess saw dust out. why? it tends too clog then the saw dust is all over the floor please note this is a must for this sander, i blow it out every time the canister is full. 2nd is. the adjustment tab has a tendency too ride on the sand paper this is an easy fix, just pop the bottom open and pull the sharp tabs away from where there paper rides. other than that it does the job very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some points you need to know as a casual user As a part-time all-around residential renovator, I typically use three power sanders for my work, a belt sander, a random orbital sander, and a palm sander. I also have an oscillating tool with a rasp and a detail sanding attachment. This is my current belt sander. Belt sanders are most useful for coarse, heavy sanding over large areas, typically on plywood subfloors and finished floors, very rarely on walls, exterior siding, vertical woodwork, and furniture. This is the smallest variety of belt sander, and I do not use it often. First things first, this is not contractor-grade quality, and I would not recommend it for someone who uses it often (someone who lays or refinishes floors every day). Belt sanders are heavy-duty tools and contractor-grade sanders are very heavily built. If you need to do a big project (refinishing the floor of a living or dining room, sanding the damaged and repaired plywood subfloor of a large room, sanding a large deck, sanding any sort of mortar or cementitious coating on stone or concrete) and plan on spending a lot of time using this tool, don't use this. However, most people who need a belt sander only need it for small, occasional jobs on wood, and that's what this is great for. The dust collector fills up very quickly, so its best to use it with a shop vacuum hose attached, or to stop and vacuum out the dust collector frequently. This makes more sense after you use belt sanders a while and learn that you'll always need a shop vacuum by your side on any project that involves belt sanding. You'll also need to wear a respirator or at least a dust mask (please pardon me if you feel that insults your native intelligence, but hey, this might be used for someone's first heavy sanding project). So with this belt sander, built for the casual user or the hobbyist, unless you're very careful about cleaning out the dust, the tool casing will fill and pack with sawdust. If you use the tool more frequently, you can learn to take it apart and clean that out, but I wouldn't recommend it and it's not made so that's easily done -- the fact that it's even possible on this inexpensive sander is just because it's a Skil/Bosch tool. Just stop ever two or three minutes and quickly vacuum out the dust collector, or work with the vacuum hose attached. When using a belt sander on a floor or any horizontal surface, put the cord over your shoulder before you start the unit. In almost every imaginable use, the only pressure on the machine should be the weight of the unit. This unit has an elaborate pressure monitoring system to help you with that, but on floor sanding, other reviewers have remarked that it goes to the red light very easily (and this is why). Hold the sander in one hand, steady it with the other. If you've never used a belt sander or seen one used, go to YouTube and watch one or two videos of contractors using them, and you'll easily learn the proper technique. So the pressure monitor only becomes more useful if you have to use this sander for some sort of complicated vertical sanding. There are very few scenarios when it's best to use a belt sander for this kind of work instead of a palm sander or random-orbital sander. If you have to sand through someone else's mistakes, you might use a belt sander on some sort of wall surface for that, but it's unusual. All in all, be gentle on this power tool and use it for small, limited jobs, and it will be very good to you. The inexpensive Bosch belts, at the heavier grits belt sanders are typically used at, work very well in this. The controls to keep the belt from shredding work exceptionally well on my tool.
