This is an excellent homeowner project machine. If that's what you need it for; you'll be happy. I found it less expensive than a 2-day rental of the commercial machines that HD rents. I think you'll be happy. I can't answer your question; but my guess is that, if used, you can't return it unless it's defective.

Hi Jake, glad to help answer your question. I would try flipping the belt around & try it that way. Some sanding belts are directional in design. I hope this helped.
