Are the knobs metal or plastic?

We currently have a Brinkman and the knobs are plastic. They melted and have since rounded off and no longer work.
Asked by: 28pamela56
The handles are a harden plastic. The one for the charcoal side of the grill is directly in line of the flames when you start the grill, keep a water spray bottle handy.

I'm attempting to surprise my husband for his birthday, how hard is it to assemble and about how long would it take?

Asked by: Gellbean
Hello, I purchased this grill last year and love it. Assembly wasn't very difficult, I think it took an hour or two but I went slow to ensure I did it right. I’d say maybe 5/10 on the difficulty scale, way easier than furniture from Ikea.

How well does the smoker work?

How well does the smoker work?
Asked by: AR
A combustion source is started in the firebox, (the round chamber hanging on the side) I use charcoal and wet hardwood chips. Bags of various type can be found at most stores, my local grocery store has them with the charcoal display. When the wet chips start to smoke, adjust the air damper on the side of the firebox so they don’t flame but just emit smoke. Then adjust the chimney cap and the damper on the charcoal side, where the food is to be cooked, so that smoke comes out of the chimney. Smoke for a few, or, a lot of hours to get the smoke taste that suits you. Whole hardwood pieces can be burned in the firebox, but they have to be watched more closely so as not to flame up and get too hot which is not smoking but cooking.
