Questions & Answers

Is there a mounting bracket for an RV

Asked by: MB
My wife bought me this grill for our sailboat. With the legs folded under they form a flat surface. Buy two 1" 1/4"wide 1/4" thick x 11 1/2" Long, each aluminum flat bar. Drill 4 holes through the flat bar two and into SS leg. Counter sink the pan head SS screws such that the bottom of the alum flat bars are totally flat and use Nylock nuts on the back of the legs with a SS washer. Use anti Sieze for the stainless steel to alum. Take legs off and mount alum. bar on the workbench. Reattach assembled legs to the grill. Now you have two flat strong mounting points across the bottom between the legs. My plan is to drill and tap 1/4" x 20 threaded holes in the 1/4" flat bar and mount it to brackets on my sailboat. Or just through bolt it. Rail brackets are available for most SS rail sizes. Any drippings etc will fall overboard. I expect it to work great. Hope this helps another. Or look up Force 10 BBQ mount brackets. The would work for the mounting with the above modification to the grill. This will be plumbed to my large Propane tank on board. (tanks are vented overboard of course.) JB

Two. If you buy the conversion kit, you can hook it up to a full tank of propane so you don't have to keep using those little tanks the conversion kits only like $15 or something totally worth it.

What size propane tank does it use?

Asked by: Dick
Hi Dick, This grill accept any 1 lb propane tank. I'm looking for to buy an adapter hose to use a 20 lb tank. Just keep in mind that no all hose adapter will fit on this grill, you'll need to check with someone at the home depot grill department. Enjoy your grill.

Great little grill, for just a couple people, it's the perfect size. Very compact. Store on a shelf and doesn't take up valuable real estate like a floor model, especially for small decks. Buy it now and when you do, purchase a gas tank conversion hose, especially if you wish to use the larger 20 lb tank of propane. Hose is 4 ft long. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cuisinart-Tank-Conversion-Hose-QG-012B/202538406 Enjoy your summer!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from only 1 complaint 1 complaint Everything is nice except for the fact that with the front slope of the lid, You can't put anything bigger than a burger or a hot dog on the warming rack and close it. The warming rack was the reason i purchased this grill over the others but when i put a 1/2 piece of corn on the cobb on the warming rack and proceeded to close the lid and realize that the corn hits the lid and keeps it open i was disappointed. I would guess that even a larger size bum or roll might hit the lid, i haven't tried it yet. Luckily i work for a sheet metal shop and i may modify the lid myself but if they had just made the lid flat across the top it would have been better. Otherwise nice construction and built well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest Portable Gas Bar-B-Q This is the greatest portable gas bar-b-q you can buy. My wife and I do a lot of camping and have had several other gas bar-b-q's, most of them would barely get hot enough to cook on, NOT this one, in less than 4 minutes it will reach 600 degrees with the top closed. Very easy to clean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good grill for the money, but... Overall, a good product, but with a few nits. It heats up fast and cooks well with the cover open, but if you close the cover, even on the lowest gas setting, the temperature climbs past 700 degrees quickly. If it's not meant to be used closed, why have a thermometer in the hood? It would be nice if they allowed you to latch the hood open in steps to control the temperature. Also, the grease catcher fits too loosely and often falls off when you try to slide it back on -it needs to be bent tighter. On the model I received, one of the spring latches failed the second time I closed it - it's just too sloppy for the spring to stay in position. Other that these items, it's a very satisfying BBQ for the price.

Received the grill before 4th of July . Putting the handle on was a pain screws too short fell behind the metal panel on back of cover, used longer screws , easier to screw in . The propane regulator is cheap brass bolt keeps getting loose had too keep tightening after several uses. The igniter was off center to ignite the propane, directions give details to adjust it, the match to light. The stainless steel was not finished, too many sharp edges. The flavor bar and or tame flavor was also sharp to handle and clean. Cooking was bad could not reregulate heat constantly high, severe flame ups, hard to clean after use. Used 3 times , discussed and returned it to Home Depot as is , to show my disappointment, they took backup, no problem. I did purchased a different portable propane grill, more money and better made. Cheap price should have been the sign of no quality but I bought too quick. The Cuisinart CGG-220 is better made , easy to put together, propane regulator better design and regulates the heat, enameled cast iron grate, flame bar prevents flame ups. A little more money without breaking the bank is better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Little Grill Not much to dislike about this grill. I wanted all stainless, and a fair cooking size. This heats up to 650 in just a few minutes. On low it will get over 400 with no food on. I'd rather crack the lid than not have enough heat. I was concerned about damage from shipping, but this is made in USA and packaged very well with ample Styrofoam. About the only drawback is I would have liked to have seen the igniter, and propane control under the grill. Being a mobile product, the exposed controls are going to get beat up over time camping and picnicking. For being made in the USA, you'd think it should at least twice the price.......

I wanted something small that I can put away when it's not being used and not take up a lot of space. At the same time, I wanted a decent grill that would perform well. I gotta say I was really pleased with how well this grill works. It gets hot quickly and maintains a high cooking temperature to cook food thoroughly. The only negative thing I could say is that food cooks faster on the side of the grill opposite the control knob and slower near the control knob. Not a big deal for me though. I also like the smaller size propane cylinders that it uses and they tend to last a while. The smaller propane cylinders are less cumbersome when moving around the grill and they take up less space. I'd but this grill again and would recommend it to someone.

This Portable barbecue has a stylish look, however , you "must" watch the temperature, it could burn your food. It was easy to assemble. I put it together in 10 minutes by my self (and i am a senior lady). I choose this model because it has a warm up rack and the Start up option. It has a great compartment to collect the grease - this was well designed. I used it 3 times and I also have 3 negative points. 1- the starter button does not work. I tried everything in the manual... it wont work. 2- the finishing edges are badly polished (where edges were welded) . Very cheap termination. 3- it gets really hot in the outside. Be careful, you can easily get burned by just touching the outside. I am considering returning it as i cant find a solution for the startup button to work. Is a shame, there is no cover for this table top bbq.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my new grill This grill works extremely well. I've only used it three times, but it performed well on pork tenderloin, steaks, and hot dogs. The top rack is large enough that we were able to cook a couple of ears of corn while the pork tenderloin was barbecuing. It's easy to carry with the built in handle, and easy to pack away in our small travel trailer. I'm very pleased with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD -- for the money . . . We once had one of those huge, cast-iron gas barbecues which uses either a 20-lb LP tank or a hook-up to gas line of our house. It was too big, too cumbersome, trouble to clean and maintain. As I'm occasionally a backpacker and camper, exploiting portable equipment sometimes when I travel for cooking a meal at roadside stops or campgrounds -- I acquired first a $40 Chinese-made tabletop LP grille. It lasted about as long as expected: the flame-spreader-shield eventually rots and crumbles on the cheaper models after extensive use of a few years. I replaced it with a $50 Weber model. The Weber had the same design, similarly made of enameled steel and the flame-spreader-shield of the same design and metal. I eventually replaced the shield with perf-steel I purchased from the local industrial metals-store, cut and shaped to fit. I had plans to spend ~$400 on a Solaire Anywhere grille, but reviews suggested that its internal parts could be troublesome to clean. So I discovered this model of the Aussie sold at Home Depot. The Aussie requires some patience to assemble. I can say so, emphasizing that I have a knack for assembling gadgets. For instance, getting the machine screws seated in their threaded holes is a bit of a balancing act, and it's a good idea if you can turn the Aussie upside down and use a magnetic screwdriver. The spring-loaded latches for the Aussie's cover/top are the worst aspect of its budget construction. One needs to squeeze the hooking-loops with pliers to install them to the latches; one of them was included as a loose part; and it is really a tedious process that will test your patience to secure the spring of the latch to the hook/loop that needs "special attention." The Piezo electric igniter seems to work reliably, and with the top closed, the unit reaches a temperature of 620+F in about 10 minutes. Turning the regulator to "Medium" shows a drop in temperature of some 40F; turning it to "Low" drops the temperature another 40 to 50F after another 10 minutes. I can't be sure if 10 minutes to test the three settings is sufficient for temperature to equilibrate. A little more experience cooking with the Aussie would give one a better feel for temperature adjustment by regulating the gas-flow. Of course, one may find it convenient to make some sort of metal prop that will hold the lid open just a bit and further moderate temperatures. In the extreme, I can't say how much lower temperatures would drop with the lid wide-open: obviously, the built-in thermometer will no longer provide data for such an experiment, but a meat-thermometer might give an idea. You're advised by the instruction manual to use a 50-50 dish-soap solution and brush to test the regulator and its propane bottle connection for leaks. It doesn't seem likely that any failure would occur to cause a leak, but it's a few minutes well-spent to reassure yourself. It would have been nice if the Aussie had come with a rain-proof cover. My experience with the cheaper grilles suggests that rain will only hasten a rusting of parts a bit, but doesn't much shorten the life of the unit. Since the Aussie has a price that's 2.5x that of those other models I mentioned, you'd probably want a cover for it. We can only wait to see how long this unit will last before (a) it needs to be replaced entirely or (b) I need to buy another piece of perf-steel at the metals store to extend its life. I probably squeezed about 7.5 years' use from each of the cheaper grilles, and I'd hope -- for the price -- that the Aussie will last at least that long.

I love a hot grill and this one registers over 600 degrees when heating up. After opening to add food the heat goes back up very high when cooking, which I usually do with the cover down. Steak, chicken and ribs done so far. Great flavor achieved with that high heat! HD "put together" my grill: added the handle and the auto igniter, which does not work due to incorrect installation. Paper work says it need to be placed a specific distance from propane source. HD simply slapped it into place with the screws without reading the instructions. I will need to find a friend to adjust it, hoping it will eventually work. I actually bought this grill through HD specifically so they would install correctly. Not happy about it. Not interested in dragging it back to the store and hoping someone will know what they are doing. Now I need to find a suitable table to put it on when at home.

I used it to make sure all worked as it should and it did. I was and am a little concerned with the legs and if they will stand up to being closed and open with use. The top grate is hard to get out and put back in because of the hinge for the upper rack hitting it, that could be a problem if it needed to be removed in a hurry. So there you go good and badDennis Mann
