My experience has been that a fully discharged battery requires about 40 minutes to recharge

How many batteries come with this. In one place it says one. In another it says two.

On 03/25/2021 I received Model #1688050 Snapper XD 19 in. 82-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Battery Step Sense Walk Behind Self Propelled Mower with 2.0 Battery and Charger. It came with TWO 2.0 Ah batteries and a charger. HOWEVER, despite that the web page shows images of it being a dual-battery powerhead, it (19") is a single-battery powerhead. Only the 21" version is a dual-battery powerhead. On 03/25/2021 I notified HD about this discrepancy.

This Snapper mower is just what we needed. It is battery operated and comes with two batteries to alternate, which is perfect for the amount of mowing we must do on our ranch. It's very powerful. It has what they call a StepSense self-propel button for assistance in pushing it over more difficult terrain. It also helps us older folks who are not quite as strong as we used to be. The batteries last a long time, but we do switch them out when one gets low in order to make the mowing easier.

I have a small yard, but no part of it is level and I need a self-propelled mower. I got this Snapper XD battery-powered mower with the StepSense self-propel system to help me manage my lawn care. § The mowing season is not quite in full swing so I’ve been able to use the mower only twice since owning it. My initial impression is that it’s a good mower with some nice features, but there are a few features that need to be improved. § First, the positives: Self-propel is effective on slopes as steep as 20°. A single level adjusts the mowing height from 1 to 4 inches in 1/2-inch steps. The 2 Ah battery charges from depleted to full in about 40 minutes. Self-propel is available even when blade motor is not running. Grass catcher works well and is easy to get on and off the mower. Mulching blade with grass catcher is effective at collecting leaves on top of grass. Mower is very quiet with an average sound level of about 75 dB(A) and a maximum around 85 dB(A). § The negatives: The StepSense self-propel activation is clumsy and takes some getting used to. The self-propel gearbox is activated when the handle slides forward–when resistance to pushing increases–and it clacks as it slides back and forth from off to fully on and vice versa. To say the self-propel speed is “infinitely adjustable” is an exaggeration. Backing the mower up/reversing direction takes some practice due to disengagement of the gearbox. Blade is only 18” long, so it takes longer to mow than when using mowers with 20” or longer blades. Battery warranty is 2 years, compared to 3-year warranty offered by other manufacturers. (Might be worth checking to see if Home Depot’s extended warranty option can be purchased for the battery.) Requires three 2-Ah batteries (two charged batteries plus a recharged battery) to mow my entire 5000 sf lawn.

The Snapper 19” Cordless Battery StepSense Mower has lots of power and many convenience features, but the StepSense self-propulsion system has its limitations. Before mowing, to adjust the blade height, you use the single lever located at the rear. A spring assists the lift rod which allows you to use just one hand to easily raise or lower the deck. Starting the mower is simply done by just pressing a button and then clasping the Bail lever onto the handle. There is no key. The handle bar is angled at a comfortable position and allows for a nice firm grip. Of the three adjustable positions for the handle height, I found the middle slot to be ideal (I am 6’ tall). You can choose to mow either with or without the StepSense self-propelling assistance. Just leave the StepSense knob locked to operate the mower like any other push mower. To use StepSense, turn the knob to unlock it, grab the handlebar and just start walking. There is a bit of a lag, but then the mower starts going at your pace. Anytime you change your pace there is a brief, but noticeable, delay. StepSense works best on unobstructed straight runs and not so well where you have to go back and forth in maneuvering the mower around trees or the like. That’s because it won’t easily let you pull backward or pivot around a corner since the transmission locks the wheels in forward. The trick to unlocking the transmission so that the wheels roll freely in reverse is to, 1) pull the StepSense handle all the way back, 2) with your left hand, grab the lower handle while your right hand continues to hold the StepSense bar back, 3) with your left arm, push the mower forward at least a foot. Now, the rear wheels are free and you can pull the mower backwards. Keep holding the mower like this if you need to go back and forth while going around a tree or mow head first into a tight spot. Remember you must use your left arm to push or pull the mower while in neutral and StepSense is on. Note, the right hand must stay on the StepSense bar in order to hold the Bail in the “On” position. To resume using StepSense, just put both hands on the upper bar and push forward for the propulsion to kick in. Because my small yard doesn’t have that many unobstructed straight runs and I do a lot of back and forth mowing, using StepSense is a rather tedious process. I find myself turning it off when mowing in areas with a lot of obstacles. Mowing my small 6,600 s.f. lot in nearly 30 minutes took about a full battery’s charge as evidenced by the fuel level indicator on the battery. Two 82-volt 2.0 Ah batteries are included so it should be able to mow most yards before needing to recharge. It takes forty minutes to fully charge a battery. The motor is very powerful and had no trouble cutting through all the winter growth. It’s also fairly quiet and sounds similar to a box fan. The mulching function works very well as does the bagger. I like how the mower stands up on its rear for storage, taking very little space in my garage. I’m sold on battery operated mowers for their simplicity, reliability and cleanliness. This mower has many excellent features going for it, but concerning it’s self-propulsion, it can be a bit frustrating and challenging to use.

Love the new Snapper 19 in. 82-Volt Lithium-Ion Electric Cordless Walk Behind Push Mower . Very impressed with all of it's features which include push button starter, 2 large capacity batteries with charger, compact vertical storage and a 3-in-1 mowing deck, allowing you to mulch, side discharge or bag. Each method is fully described in the Owner's Manual.  You'll enjoy up to 45-minutes run time with fully charged 2.0 Ah batteries.  It was relatively easy to assemble, which I certainly appreciated. This is the first battery operated lawn mower I've owned, and I am delighted to no longer have a need for both my gas and electric mowers. This is lightweight enough without even being self-propelled.  I would highly recommend this mower to all interested Home Depot shoppers.

I probably should’ve bought the one without the automatic drive. The sliding action on the drive lever is awkward to control. My mower is light and my yard is small so I don’t really need it. Also the batteries should have a handle on them for removal and carrying. Plus the catch bag is a little small. The mower mows well But the vacuum capability is not near that of a gas mower.Overall I give it a B. It was worth the money.

Just right for me
I have a small front and back yard. I got the 19" because I wanted something light and easy to maneuver. This turned out be just right for me. Light and easy to maneuver. I had a push battery mower and a self propelled battery mower. They both stopped working the same day. I searched and ordered this one. The push mower I had was light but didn't pick up grass and leaves as good as my self propelled mower. But the self propelled mower was too heavy and hard to maneuver. You can easily push this mower at times you need to push and and use the step sense walk when you want to propel. And it does a good job picking up grass and leaves. Another thing I like is the height adjustments. I'm 6'7" and it's a good height for me on the tallest height adjustment. I'm also 63 years old.

Great Mower
This is a perfect mower for me. Living in the city, I have a yard that is about .3 acres which ends up using 1.5 of the batteries to complete. The stand up feature is terrific, saving space in my small garage when I'm finished using it. The step sense is a cool feature and the only down side is when I transition from from engaging the step sense to reversing...the back wheels lock up. The solution is simple...pause, stop moving for a moment and then back up... I've bagged the yard a couple of times, works great...typically I mulch and that works terrific. My favorite part about making the switch to electric is I no longer smell like gas when I've finished. Electric is the way to go for me and the 82 volt double battery solution has plenty of juice to get the job done.
