Does Snapper make a pole saw that operates on its 60v battery

I never tried it with a 60 volt battery. I do NOT recommend this product; it arrived with the oiler inoperative and the nearest dealer is 10 miles and 40 minutes away.

(What's this)
I was excited to try out this new 82-volt cordless pole saw, and in the end, it does the job, but it's far from perfect. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: (1) It uses a shaft drive design, which means the motor is down at the base (along with the battery), eliminating a huge amount of weight from the top of the saw. That makes it much easier to handle than it otherwise would be. (2) The battery charges in just 30 minutes, and appears to be of good quality, although only time will tell. It's Model # 1760266, and given the price, it is clearly not a cheap throwaway. Cons: (1) The shaft drive means this is NOT a collapsible saw. While the specs say it "expands up to 8.8ft", that is deceptive in a number of ways. While it is indeed 8.8ft long at maximum length, it only has a 7ft reach from the trigger. Furthermore, it is only expandable by inserting the additional 2ft pole (without it, the saw is only 6.6ft long with a 5ft reach). The fact that it is not collapsible makes it hard to store, and also means that the handle must be removed and reattached every time you switch between the two lengths. (2) The saw does not come with bar oil, and doesn't mention until the "maintenance" section on page 18 of the manual that it is required for use. I knew this having used prior pole saws and chainsaws, but someone new to this class of product could potentially ruin their product after the first use. There should be a warning on page 1 of the manual that bar oil is required and not included. (3) There are three buttons that must be activated to operate the saw. An on/off button, a safety thumb button, and the trigger. In what I can only imagine is a safety feature, the on/off button automatically shuts off after 1 minute. That means you may be walking around a tree looking for another angle, and when you reach up and pull the trigger, the saw is non-operative. You have to pull it down and flip the on/off button back on. (4) I found that the chain easily jammed if caught between small branches above and below it (I'm talking 1/4" in diameter), which often happens when trimming smaller trees and bushes. This was inconvenient to say the least. Overall, I do think that this product gets the job done on big trees, as long as you don't need more than a 7-foot reach. But the lack of an adjustable length was a let-down. As long as you're OK with it, this product is probably a good choice. My previous cordless Li-Ion pole saw stopped working after just 3 months when the battery failed to take a charge, so the fact that this model appears to use a robust battery pack that is backed by a 2-year warranty is pretty important.

(What's this)
Battery Powered 8 foot reach pole saw with 10 inch "chain saw" blade. This saw a great addition to my arsenal to tame the woods around my house. It can be used with the full pole which gives a great 8 foot reach, or you can remove one section, and use it with about a 5 foot reach. It feels sturdy when in use, and is not too heavy, and decently balanced. The shoulder strap is a useful feature to help balance the tool. The battery appears to charge in <30 minutes. The charger has a fan that runs when charging to keep it cool. The saw will run for 20-30 minutes on a full charge. The battery has a button and indicator LED's that show the current remaining charge. This saw is definitely powerful enough to do what it is intended to do, trimming the smaller branches at distances that are difficult or impossible to reach with a "regular" chain saw. The saw is easy to assemble, connecting the two sections of the pole together and tightening the nut to keep them in place. The battery clicks firmly into the motor end, and has a sturdy latch to release it when needed. At the chain end, there is the small plastic bottle for chain oil. It is nice that it is a translucent container, so you can tell when it needs to be refilled. One note, when not in use, chain oil may leak. I ended up with a small oil spot on my shop floor. The chainsaw end can be easily angled. My pictures attached show it straight, but it is easily changed to "tilt down" and locks in at multiple positions. Overall, I am very pleased with this saw. It allows me to reach those limbs that need to be removed safely without having to use a ladder.

(What's this)
This battery operated pole trimmer is a great value. I've used an electric pole trimmer for years and it's worked well with the exception of stringing multiple extension cords together to get it to run. This trimmer is run off of the included 82V lithium battery pack. The battery provided a decent amount of run time, between 20-30 minutes. The time to recharge is about the same time, so having a spare battery increases the usefulness of this tool. The tool works well as a pole trimmer, but has the capability of so much more. The pole trimmer has several great quality features. It has a 10" Oregon bar for cutting decent sized limbs. The head angle is easily adjustable. The trimmer has an bar oil reservoir and has a zerk fitting for lubrication. The height/reach is kind of adjustable by adding or removing an extension arm. Overall as a pole trimmer it's solid, but like I mentioned earlier it can do more. The tool is compatible with my existing collection of Expand-It attachments. I was able to use my brush cutter and edger with this tool easily. I have looked at the other tools in the XD line and there's a bunch of great tools available. I have a different brand of 80V tool with nearly identical batteries, but they are NOT compatible. A minor annoyance, but having the tools share some compatible accessories increases the value in my case. This Snapper tool is definitely the highest quality tool of the similar brands I've looked at.

A little heavier than my previous pole saw, BUT excellent performance. The button push sequence for starting is a little more difficult to execute without the strap, but can be done. Battery life is exceptional.

I could not cut over 5 minutes at a time without the chain coming off. Kept it tight adjusted as I could, but it would not stay on for long. I am sending it back now. I don't think the chain turned fast enough even though fully charged.

We're sorry that you had this experience and that you felt like you needed to return it. The main unit (not including the batteries/charger) does have a 5 year warranty time frame that starts from the date of purchase and covers manufacturing defects. If there is potential warranty situation, then we recommend contact a local authorized Snapper service dealer for a diagnostic inspection. If a manufacturing defect is found, then they can help you with the rest of the warranty process.

Unlike the Wren pole saw that I previously ordered, which arrived inoperative, this one does work. However, the chain oiler does NOT work. My message to Snapper Customer Service via their web asking for a call back about this problem when UNanswered. Next I tried calling them, 3 times. The first two times their Automated telephone abuSe System (A S S) could not recognize the tones from my phone and thus wouldn't route my call. finally the 3rd call did go through into a 15 minute queue. When I finally talked to a representative, the only thing she could do was give me the address of a dealer 10 miles -- and 30 minutes in LA traffic -- away for service. Terrible product reliability and horrible service; I'll be returning it and selecting a different manufacturer for my cordless outdoor products.

We’re sorry that you have experienced a problem with your pole saw this is not typical of a new product. We do recommend taking any products that are not working to a dealer so they can help identify any possible issue and repairs what might need to be done. If a manufacturing defect is found, and you're within the warranty time frame, they can file a warranty claim with their distributor on your behalf. If you still have questions after this process is complete please contact our customer support center at 800-743-4115.
