Does this trimmer take attachments?

AnswersYes. It accepts "universal" attachments. I have a blade brush cutter from a gas trimmer, it fits correctly on the Snapper, and works perfectly. BTW: somewhere in the instructions for the Snapper there's a warning about not accepting a blade-type brush cutter. I contacted Snapper. The warning applies only to the string attachment unit because the gears inside are not regarded as strong enough to handle a brush-cutting blade (= do not remove just the string-holding cup and screw a blade onto the shaft). Purchase a brush-cutter attachment shaft from just about any manufacturer and it will fit and work fine. I was able to cut through woody stems up to almost an inch, although movement is different. Rather than swinging the unit right-to-left as recommended when using a string, when a blade is attached it's best to push the head forward so larger twigs quickly nest between the spinning blade and the stationary prong that projects forward on such a cutting head.

AnswerWe do not currently manufacture a replacement spool of line ourselves. We recommend using the instructions in the manual to replace the line using a Nylon line with a 0.08" (2.03 mm) diameter. The instructions on how to do this can be found on pages 21-22 of the trimmers operator manual. You can download that on the Snapper website by using the model number for the trimmer (model 1696771).

While this is not a professional grade string trimmer, it sure acts like one! It has a dual twine head and is large...like very large!
It is not difficult to use, but you will need to get the hang of it if you are used to the traditional sized trimmers for home use. This one does weigh quite a bit. But that is mostly in the battery area of the head. To defer the weight, you are to use the shoulder strap.
One note, if you are tall like me (6'4") the strap does not go far enough to let it hang naturally so that your arms can move unencumbered and still be light. The same is true if you are shorter in height. If you are too short, the trimmer will be awkwardly too tall for the user despite the shoulder strap carrying the weight.
I have used it a handful of times now. I must say, it is very quiet! The hum of the motor is not noisy at all! I like that. And it is very powerful.
The biggest hurdle for me is the weight and handling the pole. I even tried the extender pole to see if that would help. It did not. I think it just takes practice. In the beginning I was not too bad at it. But it is not the same as the smaller at-home counterparts. I have improved though when using it.
The battery life is awesome. I was able to use it for the string trimmer and a few other attachments for this pole. Then I went to mow the lawn (35 minutes) and when I got back, it was fully charged again!
The directions and box say there is a 2 year warranty on the battery and a 5 year warranty on the trimmer. Knowing that it is a Briggs & Stratton also puts my mind at ease for its lifetime of use.

I was searching for a quality string trimmer to replace my gas powered machine. This unit is great. It is well built and sturdy unit made high quality materials. The powerful electric motor is made by Briggs and Stratton and the battery charged up to full in under an hour and was ready for work. The machine is easy to use, well balanced in my hands and worked great. With its powerful motor and 2 speed/power setting and large beefy cutting head, I was able to easily cut through a variety of grasses. I really like all of the attachments that are able to be attached to this base unit. It can take the place of several machines which adds to versatility as well as saving storage space. Which is great for a homeowner with a large property.

This Snapper string trimmer kit is great! I really love using it because the attachments are just as wonderful as the body. The battery charges quickly and lasts forever! It is a very powerful string trimmer which makes quick work of a lot of area.It has two strings instead of one so it does the job faster.It isn't too heavy to hold.It does come with a shoulder strap which helps tremendously!(I'm on the short side)
It is easy to maneuver around but it will take some time to get used to the power.If you like your yard to look nice and manicured buy this unit!!

This Snapper String Trimmer certainly has earned my five star rating! This unit paired with the powerful Briggs & Stratton Lithium-ion battery delivers great performance and is extremely simple to operate. I was able to assemble the unit in 10 minutes or less out of the box. Just the handle and strap need to be adjusted to the appropriate position to weight-balance it to the user's height and comfort level. The two pieces of the trimmer's aluminum shaft simply snap in to a cast metal coupler and you are ready to go. The rubber handle grip is comfortable and the controls are within easy reach. There are two power setting buttons to adjust the speed of the trimmer and a safety. Charging of the battery is quick and also very easy. The power generated by this battery is excellent, finally a real replacement for a gasoline fueled trimmer! No gasoline storage issues, odor or mess, and a professional grade sturdiness that should perform well for many years. I ran out of edging to do before my battery charge. This battery system takes power tools to the next level. I love that this trimmer is also EXTREMELY quiet. You can trim and edge any time of the day without waking your neighbors! This cordless string trimmer is part of the Snapper XD 82-Volt max battery powered system which includes a hedge trimmer, lawn mower, chain saw and leaf blower. The battery pack is interchangeable for all. Buy an extra battery and you can forget about gas-fueled yard work forever. I highly recommend this product.

I have two 2 amp batteries from my lawn mower which work with the lawn mower and the cordless blower. I tried them in the trimmer and it didn't work. It spun for a little bit then it stopped. It may have been a dud. I called Snapper's customer service and the person said it was probably the batteries that are bad even though they both worked great with the mower and blower. I'm not sure if I should buy another one or go with another brand.
