Answer

Watch the video on this snow blower ( even if it's not a Sno Tek brand ) it will explain the process of making your snow blower one or two wheel drive. It's easier to turn the snow blower with one wheel driving but you get better traction and grip when both wheels are driving. . some will compromise one over the other. I prefer 2 wheel drive as it makes a straight line blowing snow as I approach my turns I lift the front end up a little and that seems to help making turns .While people like both options you cant have both, it's one or the other. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YqdQNk7KJA

Why did you stop making them with electric starters.

Asked by Buster January 28, 2021

Answer

Hello. Thank you for reaching out. Depending on the size and price point of some of our units they do not come with electric starters to keep the cost down. Thank you.

How do you start it?

Asked by Steve January 17, 2021
1
Answer

Hello. Thank you for reaching out. Ensure the oils have been checked in the unit. This includes the engine and auger gear case oil. Next, fill the unit full of fresh fuel. The specifications for the minimum fuel requirements are listed in the engine manual. We also recommend using a fuel stabilizer as fuel can break down within a few weeks. Be sure that the fuel valve is in the on/open position. Press the primer bulb three times. Next, plug in the electric start with the specified power cord. If utilizing the electric starter, turn the key on and press the start button. Once the unit is running, remove the power cord from the outlet and then the unit’s starter. If utilizing the recoil start, grasp the handle and pull until it becomes tough. Next, with a rapid and continues motion, pull the recoil rope and handle quickly. Once the unit has starter, be sure to slowly allow the recoil to rewind to prevent the handle from snapping back. If the handle snaps back at the unit, this could cause damage to the recoil, handle, or fuel valve. Thanks

Why is this such a piece of garbage. How come it has to go in every year for service to start. ...

Used today for the north eastern over 2 feet of snow and mad it was a blessing it shot the snow really far and definitely went through it , I love it so far , although the pin that goes in the tire to hold it on came off so I had to make one out of a piece of metal I give this machine 5 stars ⭐️ thank you for a great machine easy to use

Not Ariens Quality. Purchased last year. At the time, HD had it listed as an electric start. Boy was I unhappy when it arrived and it is a recoil start. The assembly was straight forward. I inspected the item as I was assembling, during that time I found small bits of metal in the gas tank. I hoped it to be fixable issue, so I used a magnet to fish the debris out prior to fueling. I didn't take a picture of the magnet, but the debris wasn't as minimal as I would have liked. That issue aside, the machine worked well through a few storms last winter. Here we are a year later. I've followed the maintenance guidelines, fresh treated gas, and it's refusing to start. I followed everything concerning fuels even replacing the oil and test running briefly in early fall for good measure. I've attached some photos of the debris in the tank, cracking/dry rotted lines that need to be replaced found this winter, and labeling on the box stating it was advertised (at that time) as an electric start. This unit is stored in a garage, out of the sun btw. This is a 1 year old machine! Following up. It looks like repair of the bad lines and removing disassembling and cleaning the carburetor got it running again. But only after 5 or 6 heavy pulls. I'm sure this will be a battle every time I need to use it. After all this extra time and money spent on this, I feel like should have just gone with the Ariens Classic... or a Toro... But I like the 20" because it takes up less space in the garage.

Don’t believe the bad teciews
I’ve had my Sno Tek 28 in blower for about 5 years now. I have NO complaints whatsoever with this thing. I do all my neighbors sidewalks down the whole street and my driveway and never had an issue. I’m guessing that quite a few people that have problems with the snowblower also have problems with their edgers, lawnmower, backpack blower etc.. The other great thing about this compared to the parent company big orange machines is the plastic chute. Never have to worry about rusting and I always coat it and the box with spray silicone.

The unit is pretty small for the price, one tire was flat that we had to air up and the linkage for the wheels and auger needed to be adjusted in order for it to work. Not to mention I wanted to upgrade to a bigger unit and was told that once I order I can not get it refunded. I would have to accept the shipment then take it back to the store myself. I will be going elsewhere for my next purchase.

This is not a typical Arien product
I purchased this a few years ago thinking it was made by Arien so it should be good. the only thing good about it is the price. the rest is useless. it has been malfunctioning since its purchase. The engine never ran smooth, it always had a weird change of speed occurring especially after it is hot. Then it just shut down, for a while I manage to get it working by using Hi octane gas but now that does not even work anymore. One of he screw that old the lower part to the engine also failed forcing me to do a repair since they are welded to the body. Overall it was a very bad purchase. I have known people who kept their Arien for 20+ years.... not this one. I am out of patience.

I was disappointed to find that the snow blower did not have an electric starter as is clearly shown in the photo. The description online also said that it had a head lamp, it did not have that either. I returned this item to my local store. I would have liked to have kept it but I ultimately went with a blower that had a wider inlet and electric starter for $100.00 less.
