Questions & Answers

I'm a relatively healthy female senior. Is this blower easy to push?

I'm a relatively healthy female senior. Is this blower easy to push?
Asked by: DS
The depth of the snow affects the amount of energy needed to push the blower since the blower has to remove more snow. Go slow and just and let the blower do it's job. Don't be in a rush to remove a deep amount of snow.

Does this blower arrive fully assembled?

I'm considering having this item shipped to my home but I don't want to do any assembly. Will I need to?
Asked by: Glendale
It arrives mostly assembled. Very little user assembly required - even a novice would have no problem. I unpacked and assembled this snow thrower is less than 5 minutes.

How loud is it? I often have to blow snow late in the eve or early in the morn and don't want to disturb neighbors.

I'd say it's a little quieter than a small gas unit. It sounds like a shopvac

Ultra 21 in. 15 Amp Electric Snow Blower with Light is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 845.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than shoveling Was sick of shoveling, wanted a snow blower but due to limited space for storage we looked at an electrical one as its small and lighter for me to drag into the house when im done. I was very surprised how it can handle heavy snow, I didnt expect it to. It is electric and not gas so it doesnt have the muscle power as a gas one would but it still does the job, just takes a bit longer to shovel. I would have given it a 5 star, only knocked one star out as I hated the extension cord which is in the way when you use the machine. I have figured out a way to throw the cord over my shoulder to make the cord more manageable. Just have to be patient, but it does work and I dont need to lift the heavy shovel anymore. People say its quiet, its not, its loud, thats another reason I did not give it a 5 star. The one good thing I love about it is I can carry it back in to the house and let it dry till the next snow fall. thats how light and small it is.

The problem is I bought mine at the end of the season last year so I did not get to try it until this year and yes I can see as how it would have to be really cold with light fluffy snow in order for this thing to work well at all. So far it has snowed twice and both times wet and heavy and this machine is totally useless in that kind of snow so I still have not been able to use it. The machine I had before had paddles also but if I tipped it forward when using it it was self propelled. Not so with the snow Joe, you have to get the handles in just the right position and then push it manually. It does not meet my expectations at all nor does it perform the way it is advertised so far. After all, how many times does it get cold enough to have light fluffy snow to make this machine perform as it is supposed to. As far as I am concerned I wasted my money on a product that I can very seldom find a use for. The advertising hooked me, and so far I do not like this snow blower and wish I had not bought it.

Bought it on sale for $114 - it works great. throws wet heavy snow (about 8" deep) without a problem. Wish it was self propelled, but for this price, can't complain. I used it 4 times in one month, so far no problems. Powerful motor, cleared the big chunks at end of driveway (thanks snowplow) Only weighs about 30 lbs, easy to move around, even used it to clear off the back deck. Auger/spinning blade is made from reinforced rubber (kind of like if you cut it out of a thick tire sidewall), so it is forgiving it you hit rocks. Ran over part of my driveway that is gravel (oops) and it did not mess anything up. Threw the gravel with the snow... Definitely worth the money, seems like it will last many years. Sooo much cheaper than a gas snow blower, and now that winter is over, storing it up on a large shelf in the shed - can't do that with a gas model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with Product The delivery was quick and on time. The installation was fast and easy. I thought having an electric snow blower would be difficult to work with, but that's not the case. I use it for my 100' paved driveway that has a slight incline. They cord holder prevents the extension cord from getting in the way and I've had no problems with it thus far. This is a show thrower though, not a snow blower. I purchased the right extension cord for the amperage (heavy duty) and find the power to be just a little less than what I anticipated. Don't get me wrong, it works great, but I do notice fumes that may be associated with an overworked motor. I'm curious to see if this impacts the snow thrower over time. I've used the snow thrower a few times now, in 5-6 inches of snow, and it does a great job. It does take some upper body strength to push it through the heavier snow, but it's a good workout so I'm not complaining. Overall, I think this was worth the money and it certainly beats shoveling.

Purchased this snow blower in Dec 2016 and used only twice in that month and once in January 2017. After that I kept this in the utility room for next winter. In the next winter I used this for 3-4 times to clean the snow but this year when it was heavy snow I decided to bring this back to my garage and when I plugged in with my 12" guage power cord, this thing did not power on at all. Unfortunately, they only give 2 years of warranty and my 2 years were up in Dec 2018 before I tried the blower this year. I contacted their customer service and they gave me few steps to try but all those steps failed to start this blower. After that they asked me to register the blower and email them back. When I followed all their instructions and asked them for options, they never emailed me back. This is a pathetic product..DO NOT BUY snow joe snow blower!!!!

I wasn't sure how good it would be, but I figured if I could clear at least a few inches of light snow that would be good enough. It was easy to assemble out of the box. Seems fairly solid although it is mostly plastic. When fired up it sounds exactly like my large Shop Vac. It handles several inches of light new snow without a problem and throws it farther than expected. The next day I tried it on about 6" of wet snow just to see what would happen. It actually was able to move it although you have to put some effort into pushing. I didn't think it would work at all, but I was able to clear the walkway. It takes some effort to push it into wet snow, but less than shoveling it. It is a bit of a pain to keep pressing the safety button and then holding the bar to get it going, but not a big deal. Overall I'm impressed with the performance given the low cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Save your back First time that I'm using an electric snow blower. Realy like the product and how it performs in last 6in snow fall. The only thing I don't like is the chute crank is too low. I decided to fix it (very easy 2ft high extension) with 3ft 3/8 toilet auger + hose + velco strap. See enclosed picture. Have fun!

My first experience with a snow blower and it was a good one, just in time for a 15 inch snowfall. I struggled at times until I learned how to maneuver through deep, wet snow... but it did the job. It did take some effort but I soon realized what it would have taken to manually shovel that much snow. The chute would clog at times when I pushed too hard and too fast. It was easy to clear the chute which wasn't required after I figured out the technique, even with the heavy wet snow. I can't wait to try this after a dry, powder-type snowfall. I bet the stuff will fly 20 feet or more. It only took seconds to swivel the chute from one side to the other and it stayed in place after tightening the hand-screw. I haven't yet figured out how to drag the drop cord but that's on me, not the equipment. Side note - the plastic plate that the chute swivel rod attaches to was broken on arrival and appeared that it happened at the factory because it was obvious that there was an attempt to glue it, but the glue was not adequate. I had the free replacement part in less than a week.
