Product Overview

The Little Miss Figgy Dwarf Fig is a new and improved fruit shrub from the Southern Living Plant Collection. Get ready to enjoy delightfully sweet, dark burgundy figs that are large and quite numerous. Little Miss Figgy was selectively bred to produce some of the tastiest figs around. Simply taste 1 and you're sure to become a believer. Furthermore, it produces this fruit in both SPRING and FALL, so you'll get more fruit more often. Besides its delectable figs, you'll love its compact growth habit. Its foliage is dense, with no pruning required. At maturity, it reaches a manageable 4 ft. to 6 ft. H and 3 ft. to 4 ft. W. Therefore, you can easily mix them into garden beds, use them as accents or even plant a hedge of them. This variety is more cold hardy than traditional figs as well. It's hardy from USDA Zones 7a to 10b. This selection is deciduous, so expect them to lose all of their leaves in winter. New growth re-emerges in spring. Plant in Full Sun for best results and water 2 to 3 times per week for the first growing season. They tolerate most soil types, including clay soil. These Little Miss Figgy Dwarf Figs are well-established in 2 Gal. pots. They tend to range from 10 to 16 in. tall when shipped. They are not guaranteed to have fruit on arrival. Plants shipped in late fall, winter and early spring will arrive dormant (no leaves).
  • Space plants 2.5 ft. plus apart
  • Grows well in most soil types, even clay soil
  • Fruits in both spring and fall
  • Reaches mature height of 4 ft.-6 ft. tall
  • Resistant to most serious disease or pest concerns
  • Includes 1 plant in a 2 Gal. Southern Living Plant Collection pot
  • Ficus carica ‘Little miss figgy’ PP27929
  • Deciduous, large fruit harvests and cold-hardier than traditional figs
  • Due to state regulations, this plant cannot be shipped to AK, HI, GU, PR or VI
  • Grows and fruits best in Full Sun
  • Great for containers, hedges, accents and more
  • Low-maintenance once established
  • Water 2 to 3 times per week for the first growing season
  • Hardy in USDA zones 7a-10b

I was sent a plant with fig rust on some of leaves. How do you eliminate this fungi?

Asked by KH August 26, 2020

Answer

Please contact me directly if we sent you a plant with any type of rust on the leaves. Typically a good fungus spray will work wonders. I make a home brew of 1 quart water, 1 cup vegetable oil, 1 Tablespoon Dawn liquid soap, and 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. Spray this on the leaves 1-2 times a week in the morning.

Can I grow it in door with pot ?

Asked by ACST48 May 23, 2020

Answer

The Little Miss Figgy Dwarf Shrub can grow inside a pot, and really should if you live in a colder planting zone. It does get up to 6 feet tall so it would need to be a larger container. You would want to give it as much sunlight as possible to help it grow rich and vibrant fruit.

Can this Shrub be grown in a large container and moved indoors over winter in Zone 5

Asked by Mary May 15, 2020

Answer

Yes the LIttle Miss Figgy can be put inside a large container and moved indoors. However, even though this plant is cold hardy in zone 7-10 I truly don't believe it would do well in Zone 5. You never really know though, with the right lover and care anything is possible. I would not recommend this plant for that zone though.

I will be planting it in a larger container but it is still in the contain it came in and it's fine. It has only been a few weeks, though. I recommend repotting in a larger pot just to be safe.

I found it on HomeDepot site but it was out of stock. Requested a notification when it was back in stock. When I received the email I ordered it immediately. It arrived very well packaged and had no damage. The shrub was dormant when it arrived and of good structure and size. I transplanted into a larger pot. Here it is April and it has just started sprouting leaves (see photo).

Order WJ12116640: I received my order, Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with this order, because the plant that I received is not in healthy condition. As you can see in the attached pictures , it is clear that you sent me a plant with diseases. If I am making a purchase, I expect to receive a healthy plant. This is not acceptable. I would really appreciate if you send me a healthy plant Would you please forward my message to the company that sent my order? Thank you in advance R.

So cute! Pack very well! Healthy plant, needed a week or two of consistent watering to get the leaves to perk up (could have beem "trained downwardas) from the packaging. Leaves are up plant is doing well. I only have it a gew weeks but I think I see some small soon-to-be figs growing already. Once you unbox it, be sure to check the leaves, even underneath. Mine had a couple of very small snails suck on the leaves, but easy to come off.

This plant was delivered very well packaged. It is a beautiful, healthy plant that makes a lovely addition to my garden. I just got it in the ground a few weeks ago and, even though I wasn't expecting any figs until the fall, it is already beginning to sprout fruit. They produce the first year they are planted so I can't wait to try them!
