Why not sold in stores?

Asked by Gesser January 26, 2017

Answer

Hello, There are several different factors that decide which materials are to be sold off the shelf in your local store. Some factor are: shelf space and the demand for the material in that area. Please consult your local Home Depot store/ Prodesk to see if they can help you by presenting you with other options ( Such as special ordering). The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

The metal clad cable allowed us to connect to the electrical panel by using clamps to attach to the underside of the floor joists instead of drilling through the floor joists. Cutting and removing the metal casing to expose the wires for connections took extra time, though.

Worked like a charm. Exactly what I needed (as most places only carry this in 250 foot rolls, I would have wasted 150 feet!). Well packaged so nobody can use a little and try to return it!
