The type of wire is called UF cable. And it needs to be buried 24” or deeper.

I've bought both types of wire. Just check if it's for indoor or outdoor use.
You'll need to go to a lighting store and buy braided ground wire and weave it through the chain, You should be able to ground the new wire to the fixture in any number of ways.
