Are you sure the generator is producing only 16 watts or did you mean to write 16 kilowatts? Answering your initial questions 16 watts equals 0.1333 Amps at 120 volts. This extension cord reportedly handles 20 Amps and 600 Volts.

Heavy duty, three conductor extension cord that is perfect to use with my generator. Of course, it can be used for many other applications, such as on the jobsite to help with providing power to your tools. Despite the heavy gauge wire, it is surprisingly very easy to coil back up for storage. A nice additional feature is the locking male-female ends. Very easy to use.

I would recommend this product to anyone who is wanting a extension cord for their generator but be fore warned that this cord will not work on things with the normal plug on it such as refrigerators, freezers, portable heaters, etc.... this is for 3 prong items such as stoves, dryers, etc... Just make sure that the amperage needed meets with the cord that you purchase so as not to have any electrical problems.

The Southwire 50 foot 12/3 STW 20-AMP power distribution outdoor heavy-duty twist-lock generator extension cord is a good product. We are going to buy a generator for the coming winter and decided this would be an excellent necessity. It is very heavy-duty and well made. The connecting plugs are substantial and also well made. It definitely meets our expectations of what a generator extension cord should be; heavy and well made. I would definitely recommend this.

The 50 ft Southwire 12/3 stw 20,amp power extension cord is one heavy duty extension cord! It is perfect for for giving me the extra reach I need with my Dewalt generator for all of my outdoor projects! I have no fear of it over heating regardless of the power tools I attach to it! The twist lock is perfect as I don"t have to worry about it pulling out of the generator. This will last a lifetime!!!

This 50 foot 12/3 STW 20-Amp outdoor extension cord with heavy-duty twist-lock male and female connectors appears to be very well made. It is exactly what I have been looking for to use with our home's emergency generator. The extension cord's 50-foot length allows us to keep the generator at a safe distance from our house when in operation. What really amazes me is how flexible the extension cord is given its 12-gauge 3-wire rating. It can be easily coiled up for storage when not needed. See attached photographs.

If you are reading this, I’m sure you are aware of the benefit of using a heavy-duty cord. The 12-gauge wires will minimize voltage drop which will protect your tool. I lost a body grinder years ago, which I suspect was due to having too small of an extension cord. After that, I bought a 12-gauge cord, which I’ve had for about 15 years. This new cord has a much thicker insulation, as the diameter of this cord is 0.550”, vs 0.375 for my older one. Not sure why the extra bulk. Keep in mind this cord uses the twist lock connector, which means your tools have to also have the same type of plug in. It’s a handy feature, which prevents the cord from accidently becoming unplugged, but definitely limits its use.

Twist-Lock outdoor cord is rated for 20 amps.and is 50 feet in length. On either end of the extension is a 3 prong NEMA L5-20P (male plug) and the other end is a NEMA L5-20R (female receptacle). This extension wiring is 12/3 STW rated at 20 amps and 125 volts. Used by contractors to power a variety of power tools such as a tablesaw, circular saw and an electric air compressor. The size of the wire determines the amps needed to power the tools. The smaller number of the wire, in this case 12/3, the more amps carried by the wire. It is unfeasible to run a variety of tools on a single 14/3 wire which will make the extension hot to the touch due to the fact that the tool requires additional amps to work correctly and safely. I like to reference it this way, if you have a man attempting to go through a tunnel with a wheelbarrow piled with sand taller than the tunnel, the top of the tunnel will knock off the top of the pile and he will not deliver the required sand because he lost it coming into the tunnel. The same holds true for the contractors tools. You've lost some of the amps in that extension and that will be detrimental to the tool in the long run. Remember the smaller the wire number the bigger the wire to carry those needed amps by the tool being used. Check the plate on the tool being used and it will inform you how many amps are needed for proper operation and safety. This is a durable, flexible vinyl insulation and is moisture resistant with molded locking connectors on both ends.

This 50 ft. 600 volt locking extension cord is 12-gauge, UL listed and meets OSHA requirements. The twist-to-lock connectors are secure, very stout and molded to help keep moisture out. This extension cord is perfect for construction uses, campers and any outdoor use where portable power is needed. Heavy jacket to help avoid cuts into the wiring should make this a long time lasting piece of equipment.

We live in Florida. During storm season you are going to need extension cords. This is one of the best I have seen. It has the proper locking plug, so that it will not vibrate out of the generator during running. It's 50 feet long so that you have plenty of cord to reach what you need. This cord will run 15 amps for the whole cord. No power loss due to length and cord heating. It coils easily and you can store it in the box it comes in! This cord is designed for outdoor use. It's heavy and you can count on it to work.
