The 4AWG is capable of carrying 100 amps, but you should use 3AWG to meet thermal rating code. The 3AWG meets National Electric Code temperature and amp capacity ratings for a 100 amp service. For reference, you can see NEC table 310.15(B). That said you may have a hard time finding 3AWG, but 2AWG is common and is what I typically use for 100 amp service. Hope this helps.

how much does 1 roll 500 ft 2guage thnn wire weigh?

The gross weight for our 500 ft. 2 Black Stranded CU SIMpull THHN Wire is around 123 lbs. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

Yes it can be. Just the wrong color should be red for power wire.

There is not enough information here to properly answer your question, so we will need to make some assumptions. First I assume your connected load will be 120VAC. Second I assume you are not using the GFCI outlets that typically are equipped on a portable generator and wish to connect the full generator capacity to a single circuit. In that case your full load amps would be about 70 amps. The 4 AWG wire would be the correct selection for the phase and neutral wire. For the ground wire you could actually use a smaller 8 AWG wire. If you are not using the outlets on the generator I would recommend installing a 70 amp single pole breaker at the generator. If you are using the provided outlets on the generator, they are typically 20 amp 120VAC outlets or 30 amp 240VAC outles. In that case you could just use a 10 AWG power cord. I hope this was helpful.

No, use solid copper wire #10 or #8.

Can this wire be used for a 1500 watt max power inverter that would be installed in a Semi truck?

Answer

I think it is to much. I used it for a 20000 watt , you only have 1500 wat, but anyway you can finde it in the intalation specification.
