A: Thank you for your interest in our products. The distance between the mountings center to center is approximately 6-7/8". The brackets measure 1.80" high. You should be able to mount this vintage basket to the piece of wood that is 2.5".

A: Depending on thickness of wall (plywood or sheetrock?) use plastic anchors or screws that are no longer than the wall thickness.

A: If hanging anything moderately heavy into drywall and not secured into a stud, I’d definitely recommend using the plastic drywall anchors and using the metal screws it came with for security and protection for your walls.

Q:How much weight can the shelf hold?

A: Can easily hold 10 pounds with the hardware provided. I used a heavy duty drywall insert and larger screws. (about $3). It would hold 50 lbs with this hardware. I think the basket could hold about 20 - 30 lbs by the way it is constructed without disforming the basket. Because of The size of this basket you would have to fill it with lead to get 30 lbs in it.
