As it stands it's still attractive. The Cargo Box is very roomy, sturdy and durable. Should have two people for easy assembly, double check and attachment. However, I did assemble it by myself. It's very quiet on the roadway unless the locks are not lined up and the lid isn't locking properly. Make sure you line it up on your roof for easy access and for locking. I prefer the lid to open on the passenger side of the vehicle (as it is designed) and have it positioned to lock and unlock the front and back locking clips from the passenger doors when open. No need to bring along a ladder unless you are vertically challenged. Should the Cargo Box become disfigured, realign and close the lid, wait 48 hrs and it will be like new. Had no problem with rain/snow entering the Cargo Box while driving. On the highway the vehicle handled no different with the Cargo Box on, but then I have a SUV and couldn't feel any difference. I would recommend this product over the higher price Cargo Boxes. This one was able to store large items then the other Cargo Boxes with a slimmer look.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It takes two people to assemble and at some point... It takes two people to assemble and at some point someone will need to get inside with the lid closed to tighten the hinge fasteners. It is lightweight. The factory locks can be a little tricky at times. I do not like the hinges being on the side. The front and back latches are durable but while driving at about 60/mph behind and in an adjacent lane to a tractor trailer the air turbulence from the tractor trailer pummeled the front causing the front latch to become disengaged and the lid partially opened. Luckily we only put the largest and heaviest items in it so we lost nothing. Once stopped I was able to get it closed and driving much slower than normal I found a WalMart and bought a 10' strap and used it (between roof rack rails left to right) to hold the lid in place. I was uneasy for the remainder of our drive to our destination (approximately 14 hours total) without a repeat. We drove through a LOT of rain and it did not leak. Due to the latch and subsequent partial opening one of the lid "lifter/holders" became slightly bent but did not break. One of the locks gave me a little trouble putting the key into it. There are (2) locks and (2) keys which are keyed the same. We have a 2011 Equinox and in order to get the cross bars in the proper places to match the box bracket areas I had to drill (2) 1/4" holes in the roof rack rails. It was a little bit of a hassle but this one is on GM for not having more flexibility with respect to this model year rail system. I didn't figure it out until the morning of our departure so it set me back about an hour...mostly due to the fact I couldn't find my 1/4" drill bit for awhile. ***I measured the distance between the box bracket holes to get me distance and using the front most cross bar location measured it back and marked/drilled my new holes.*** ALL my parts/fasteners were in the box. I ordered it online and picked it up at my local Home Depot store. It was very easy to do. You probably could probably drill for and use padlocks to secure it "better" if you want to. Due to the lid blowing open I can only give it a fair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent roof box for the price Being an engineer I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before buying this roof box and I think it's the best value one on the market. I just got back from a 10 day road trip and was really happy with it. Some reviews I read mentioned that it was flimsy and difficult to assemble. However I found it no more flimsy than other expensive Thule roof boxes I have used. In fact once locked down, the additional clamps on the front and back make it more solid and sturdy than others. I think people don't realise that they feel a bit flimsy when open because they are made this way to be lightweight. They are still very sturdy. It is a little bit tricky to assemble but no more than IKEA furniture.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Look for another cargo carrier I researched cargo carriers for our trip to the beach. I finally settled on this one. It has pros and cons and the cons were bad enough for me to reccomend to kee plooking. First the pros. This thing is HUGE. It held 3 suitcases (1 large, 1 medium, one small). 2 duffle bags, two beach chairs, and we still had room for a bit more if we needed it. Now the cons: It's very flimsy. So much so that it makes it more difficut to assemble because the lid was always flopping around. The assembly is a night mare. You literally need someone to crawl insde of it and close the lid in order to assemble one of the parts. The locks and keys are very flimsy. One of the keys actually broke and one of the locks takes a couple of tries to get the key in correctly to lock or unlock it. Attaching it to the crossbars is very easy on the passenger side that opens, but next to impossible on the drivers side. When open, you need someone with long thin arms to be able to reach around the open part to attach the bolts inside. We have a pretty large SUV and could not reach across from the passenger side. Getting these bolts off so you can store the thing is just as difficult for the same reason. When all closed up it's pretty stable. But, it has a pretty large profile so when driving at highway speeds, shakes a bit. I used this only once and then went an purchased a rear opening cargo carrier that was much easier to install. Do yourself a favor and pass this one up for another that's about the same price that is rear opening, like the Sportrack Vista.

I got this car top carrier because it was the best price for the size that I could find anywhere. WELL there is a reason for that. First, you have to put the ENTIRE thing together (literally, every single nut and bolt) which I was not expecting and it is not easy to put together at all. Not all the parts would fit properly either AND my friend had to lock me INSIDE the stupid thing with a flashlight to tighten the bolts, because you couldn't tighten them with it open. This was not exactly how I thought I would spend my afternoon, locked inside a car top carrier. Also, after I finally got it put together (3 hours and 2 people later, seriously it's a nightmare), once I got it on my car, and loaded IT WOULD NOT LOCK. Do not buy this. It was literally the worst thing ever to fill this up and get ready for a 3,000 mile road trip only for the stupid thing to not lock which is the entire reason I bought it. Completely ruined the first part of my road trip trying to deal with the stupid thing and worrying about people stealing my stuff out of it since it wouldn't lock. I repeat, DO NOT BUY THIS.
