  • Compact, lightweight size is perfect for easy mobility
  • 2200 starting watts and 1800 running watts
The Sportsman 2200-Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator has the power and flexibility to handle tasks from tailgating, camping and running electronics. Safely charge and run your phone, computer, television and more using either unleaded gasoline or propane gas. With this dual-fuel ability, use whichever is easily-accessible or more affordable. The sine wave power delivers clean, stable and reliable power making it safe for use with sensitive electronics. You won’t have to leave your tablets, computers and televisions at home. With a 50% load, the generator can run for seven hours on a full tank of gasoline (1 Gal.) and 18 hours with a full tank of propane (the common gas grill type). It includes a 5 ft. propane fuel hose with regulator so you can get the generator up and running quickly and easily. The 3 HP engine is surprisingly quiet, running at fewer than 60 db. An economy switch on the control panel automatically reduces engine speed when loads are turned off or disconnected, saving energy and fuel. This Dual Fuel Inverter Generator also comes equipped with a parallel power port terminal that allows the user to chain two Sportsman generators together to increase the total output power when using a Parallel Power Kit (sold separately).

I wanted the generator for the same purpose, I have a Minnkota 4 bank 10A per bank charger (40A total) on my boat. I called Minnkota and they said my charger pulled 660 watts. So yes, it will work. I run mine all the time with no problem.

Buyer beware: When product arrived, I checked it out, put oil and gas in and it fired right up. I didn't check to see that it was producing power. So we don't go actually try it out for just over a month. When we did it started, but produced no power. I called home depot and they said sorry it's been beyond the 30-days allowed to return it. I called the manufacturer and that was a joke. The female I spoke with tried to blame it on me telling me we must've tried to power AC with it. I told her we ran nothing with it because it produced zero power. I was told she would double check with her tech guy and get back with me. Never heard back. I pulled the panel off and saw that something was unplugged. So I was so excited to try it again. Went camping and it produced power, but it would run for about 30 minutes and then turn off. I checked gas, oil, etc. Everything was good. I had to let it cool off or it would not start at all. Ran it several more times with the same problem. So now I'm stuck. That's a very expensive lesson. The panel where electrical connections are is very cheap, flimsy plastic. I would never buy this brand again.

I own one of these and one of its other brand twins the homegear 950I. 1st off these do not put out 1k. they are 700 watt generators with a peak capability of around 750. these are made by xing yue in china and Xing Yue is a massive manufacture of small engines, motorcycle, scooters, atvs, go carts etc. this little genny is fantastic. its super light only 25 lbs. thats less than your wifes purse. they are very well made, although the plastic over one of the home gear's switch is kinda jacked. mine always start with in 3 pulls either of them. the oil dipstick must be screwed in tight otherwise you'll get a leak. make sure you DO NOT OVER FILL THE OIL. follow the instructions EXACTLY. the fuel consumption on these are incredible, mine run 11 hours on a full tank of rec 90 fuel running a pair of lasko fans. Sportsman stocks spare parts as does porta source. this is the same generator as the dirty hand tools 800, the portasource 800, the earthquake 800, the homegear 950I.

I had no intentions to open the box when I got the generator. But, after all the reviews on excessive smoke, I just had to find out if mine was a chain smoker. What I found out reading the manual was that the amount of oil that is to be added by the new owner was covered up with a new amount, 7.5 oz. The original amount to be added was 10 oz. So, I added 7.5 oz of 10/30 oil for small gas engines. When I checked the level after adding oil, the level was just at the add mark on the dipstick. I added one more once of oil and re-checked the level. Now the oil level is at the proper level. If there is to much oil in the crankcase, the oil will get by the rings and cause excessive smoke. Only ad 8.5 oz of oil when setting your generator up. BTW- The generator is well constructed. Nothing looks "cheap". I was surprised how light the unit is, and how easy it is to gain access to the "innards". I'll update this rant after I run the unit for awhile. I don't anticipate any problems with excessive smoke.

I FOUND IT TO BE WAY TO HEAVY TO MANAGE BY MYSELF. I DIDN'T CARE FOR THE SIDE PANELS THAT HAVE TO BE REMOVED TO SERVICE THE UNIT. THE PACKAGING BOX I FOUND FLIMSY THE HAND HOLDS TO LIFT THE BOX TORE OUT AS SOON AS I TRIED TO MOVE IT. I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE A WHEEL KIT OPTION ,BUT THIS MODEL DOESN'T HAVE AN AVAILABLE WHEEL KIT OPTION. I'M GOING TO USE THIS ON MY RV AND HOME SO MOBILITY IS IMPORTANT. I LIKE THE INVERTER ASPECT OF THE GENERATOR AND THE PRICE IS VER Y GOOD . I LIKE THE DUAL FUEL OPTION PROPANE IS CLEANER AND YOU DON'T HAVE THE FUEL PROBLEMS LIKE YOU DO WITH GAS WHEN STORING. THIS IS A VERY GOOD GENERATOR FOR THE PRICE JUST MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND IT'S WEIGHT AND MOBILITY BEFORE PURCHASING.

I am writing this review just to cancel out the very inaccurate review from "Jj" posted on December 10, 2016. He could not be more wrong - this is definitely a 4-cycle generator, and it's extremely quiet - more quiet in economy mode than my Honda EU2000i is! The fact that you have to put oil in it (not use pre-mixed gas and oil, which you *DO NOT* use with this generator) means it's a 4-cycle (4-stroke) engine. This is *NOT* a 2-stroke! The description clearly states it's 800 running watts, 1000 surge watts - all generators are listed with the "surge watts" as their highlighted wattage; even my expensive Honda is listed as "2000 watts!" but only delivers 1600 continual watts. Not sure why "Jj" complained about that standard practice (and the info is right in the description). This is an AMAZING generator for the money, currently $158. I ordered one and it runs perfectly, currently in our pasture running a 250watt water tank heater in 15 degree weather. I came back to Home Depot to order another one only to find that "Jj" had given it an inaccurate review so I decided to post this - if you need a CHEAP generator that is quiet and puts out 800watts all day long, get this!

I ran this at idle for about an hour. Then took it on a boy scout camping trip to run my CPAP. Operated perfectly for over 10 hours straight. I modified the fuel cap to siphon gas from a 2.5 gallon gas can. I decided to change the oil after having about 11 hours on the engine. The next night I camped out with the cub scouts and ran the generator for over 12 hours. No problems at all. Changed the oil today and it was dark but not as bad as the first 11 hours of operation. I also added an engine timer so I can keep track of the hours on the engine in order to change the oil at appropriate intervals. This is an incredible value for the $158 I paid for it. Take a look at the photos to see the modified fuel cap and the engine timer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power to go I own a live honeybee removal service and needed a light, quiet, reliable power source to run my bee vacuum that sucks bees into a canister without harm. This little powerhouse meets the need plus. It's been all over south Texas sucking up swarms along the side of the road on fence posts, on pickup hoods, mail boxes, and bees from cutouts in structures. It has eliminated running miles of extension cords with power enough to also run led lights for nighttime illumination along with the vacuum. I don't use the economy feature much given my power demands, but it's nice to have for low watt situations. I now keep it on the back floor of my pickup, and there is no gas smell. I have worn out 3 Harbor Freight Stormcat 2 strokes that just don't have the power, build quality, inverter, or non oil mixed fuel. Given the price of the unit and extended warranty, this machine is a no brainer. Highly recommended! Cary Voss in Victoria, Tx.
