Turn your propane on on both the propane tank and the generator. Close the choke and press the switch to start. Once generator starts just open the choke and it should be good to go. Don't forget to check the oil each and every time before starting the generator.

I really like the fact that the Sportsman Generator is propane and that i don't have to mess with gas. I use this generator to charge my RV batteries while camping. This generator is quiet. With the 30 amp plug i can even run my air conditioner.

We bought this generator for our travel trailer so we can make rest stops on long trips without having to hook up at a campsite. It has plenty power to run our generator and refrigerator. It's quieter than expected and light enough that one person can load and unload it. We have two 40 pound LP tanks on the trailer so there is plenty propane on board when we need it. There is a huge benefit to not needing to drain gasoline from the tank and lines when not in use. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet and low maintenance generator.

Previously, we have always purchased gasoline powered generators, as we have always had a place to store the gasoline cans safely that is not inside our garage. When we moved into town, with no outside storage space, we studied and reviewed propane generators for several weeks. Propane tanks are much easier to handle than gas cans, and the propane generators are slightly quieter. (Not a lot, but just a little.) The Sportsman4,000-Watt Clean Burning LPG Propane Gas Powered Portable Generator with RV Outlet fits our needs perfectly. It's RV ready, and we can store propane tanks safely inside the garage. When we go camping, my husband can lift it into our truck with no problem. If our power is out due to a storm, it can easily power our refrigerator and a few lights. I would recommend this generator.

We had no problems getting the unit running. The instruction card was simple to understand. It started on the third or fourth pull and runs very steady and surprisingly quiet for an inexpensive unit. I will only give it 4 stars since the metal top covers where dinged a bit, I suspect at the factory since it came double boxed with not visible damage. This was easy to take out with a mallet so no big deal.

I have a 500 gallon buried propane tank and wanted to be ready for the next Florida hurricane. My old generator was gasoline and having to find, haul and store lots of gasoline before a storm is a pain. Cranking on the old pull start was also not fun. So I purchased the 7000 watt Propane Sportsman generator with key start. After receiving the generator I purchased the oil and battery (not included) for about $100. Then, I had my propane gas company install a new regulator on the house ($250). Assembly was not bad. All went smooth and generator started on 2nd or 3rd try. The directions are not the best and should be re-done. I am happy with the generator and am ready for the next hurricane. For the money, it is good insurance and worth considering this one.

Excellent Product
I purchased this generator to use on our houseboat. I did a lot of research on safety and feel that I have a a safe set-up. I couldn't believe the price but it was the reviews that sold me on the product. Most negative reviews came from some issues with shipping damage. I was fortunate not to have any. The generator started on the second pull. It runs great. The sound was louder than anticipated (68 dB). I built a sound suppressing box with fan and exhaust ports that has greatly reduced the noise to the range of a Honda EU2000 inverter generator (53 dB) and it is a far cheaper system. I purchased a Fairview RV Camper LP / Propane 2 Stage Gas Regulator, that automatically changes over from an empty to full tank. I can run the generator the entire weekend without having to change out my propane tanks (10 hour run time at 50% load on a common 20 lb. LPG cylinder). I like the benefits of using propane over gas (Propane burns cleaner than gas engines and carbon monoxide emissions run up to 40% lower). Be sure to have your propane tanks filled instead of exchanging tanks (Exchange tanks are not filled to the maximum legal limit, 20lb tanks often contain only 15lb of fuel). I love having the 120-Volt RV plug. I purchased a Marine 30 amp female to 30 amp male 125v Shore Power Pigtail Boat & RV Adapter that allows me to connect to my 30 amp shore power cord. There are two additional 120-Volt and one 12-Volt DC outlet that allows me to even charge a spare battery. This unit powers our A/C unit on our houseboat and refrigerator along with my boat systems with no problems.

Best generator purchase
Love this generator,, clean LPG, no smell during storage, easy to operate/start. Little heavier than expected, but when the power went out, for over 5 hours, it ran most of the house power needs. Just one note. wished the power cord was 5 feet longer

Not a very Reliable Model
When I received this unit it would not start so I call the 800 number and they were not helpful. I discovered on my own that the choke butterfly valve was interfering with the air cleaner filter and not opening up all of the way. I fixed and the unit worked good the first time I used it. The second time I used it one of the internal control panel components fried (I think it was a capacitor). The engine continued to run fine, but the generator was not putting out any electricity.

A sound investment !
Well I needed a new generator for my Truck Camper , as it is an older unit the A/C draws 20 amps and was too big for my other generator ! So after some shopping I decided too go with Propane instead of the cheaper gas models , I am so happy that I did , I have only placed about 4 hours on it so far . The unit seems too be everything they said it was . I Love it ,,, Ken
