How does it run a camper

The RV plug outlet is NOT a real 30 amp plug outlet, it is 20 amp I found out the hard way. So if you have a trailer that uses most of the 30 amps when using an AC unit, stay away from this generator & find 1 with a real RV plug outlet. Nowhere in the description does it say this, I didn't find out till I called customer service & it was too late to return my new yard ornament.

Can you run your home computer with it?

Matt is correct, for one good reason: the manual has a schematic that reveals the truth. It clearly shows windings feeding an AVR, that taps off and goes directly to the A/C outlets. A D/C outlet is also available, but it is generated from a separate winding feeding a rectifier and diode assembly. The quality of AVRs vary greatly, but they are hardly the culprit. The main problem is that usually the average homeowner, like me, wants to keep the lights on during the occasional outage, but doesn't want to pay much for the privilege. I am usually taxing my generator to the limit, riding the fine line between brownout and throwing the breaker on the generator itself. I boast to my friends about how I can run the whole house off my portable generator. My generator throws oil and growls at me, but it has worked well enough. I would not trust it to run vacuum tube appliances and early electronics, but I agree with Matt that modern devices have good power regulation nowadays. The key point is: buy a generator big enough for the job, and the power phase shifting issue that is the REAL issue with cheap A/C generators won't be a major factor for your electronics.

This unit is not set up to run on natural gas from the factory. You would have to modify it. The parts are about $30 US. There is no transfer switch included. That would be a separate purchase and would be from $150 on up... and installation by an electrician would be required. This is true with any transfer switch. However, I have done this and my transfer switch is connected to all of the 120 circuits in my home and it works great. Just do not exceed the rated power draw.

What kind of extension cords should be used with this? Running microwave, a couple lamps, portable hea and tv possibly.

We use ours at our camp, from the generator to the outside plug we you a commercial grade extension cords, inside we you normally everyday extension cords. You really want the heavy duty cord as they do better outside. Hope this helps.

!!WARNING!! DO NOT BUY
I purchased the 7,500/6,000 watt generator over a year ago. It was only used twice during a power outage. I even made sure I ran the engine every so often and checked voltage. The last time I used this the engine shut off not too long after changing out the propane tank. After checking the tank and finding it still had fuel, I tried to restart the generator, but it was LOCKED UP. Since it is out of the one year warranty I called around looking for a small engine repair shop. All but one was willing to look at this Chinese engine. After having him look at it I was informed that the piston rod snapped and it would be cheaper to buy a new generator than fix this one, especially since parts are impossible to find. Don't waste your money on these imports.

DOESN'T MAKE ELECTRICITY
So ... With a hurricane in the gulf, we purchased this unit , stayed in the box in the shed for three days and the day before the Storm, unboxed it, filled it with oil, hooked up the propane and it fired right up. But.. Aren't they supposed too produce electricity? Customer support said "Your brushes are probably worn out" In four minutes??? So they sent us a new AVR (AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR) (A week after hurricane Laura was gone) Now .... It still DOESN'T work and I am a ASE CERTIFIED auto repair technician I can't imagine how thrilled your basic handyperson would be with this

Manufacturer went the cheap route on the gas lines, etc.
Purchased this model 4 years ago through HD. Kept it stored in a dry shed the entire time. Had no issues for the first two years using propane (Never used gasoline). Late last year had issues keeping it running without zip-tying the choke open (It was dark and raining, so I didn't troubleshoot). Went to use it today and it wouldn't start. Found multiple sections of the propane fuel line had cracked and fallen apart, as did the air line from the air filter into the choke. I also found the plastic spark plug boot had cracked and fallen apart. When it works it's great, but it's obvious the manufacturer went the cheap route on the gas lines, etc. It works, but be prepared to do an above average amount of service maintenance on this generator.

nice generator and works well but..........
it's meant for a rv. it only has 120v output which only runs half your breaker panel if connected to your home. it means extension cords throughout your home. other than that its a good price and it seems well built and nice for a campsite.
