Questions & Answers

will this run a 15 amp power tool?

Its hard to read but it looks like the 120v outlets are rated 8.5 amps. Is that each one? if only one is used is it good for 17amps?
Asked by: Rich
Rich... do the math... The simple answer is "no". While is STATED wattage is 2000/1400... the number you're interested in is the 1400. As pointed out otherwise, 120x15=1800. 1800 is greater than 1400. To illustrate... I've been running a 5000btu AC unit (pulls about 650w constant) mounted in the back of my (retired Penske) truck. It's been getting along with the Sportsman 2000 pretty well. I have the AC, my stereo, overhead LED lights (they pull about 20w each) and my laptop all plugged in and the Sportsman just chugs along... sometimes growls when the compressor kicks on... I just tried plugging in a brand new 10k BTU AC (the Texas summers are more than the little 5k unit can deal with), and while the AC turned on, compressor kicked on, and it went through a whole cycle (yummy cold air in my driveway, of all places)... the SECOND time the compressor tried to kick on (it's warmed up now, higher resistance) the AC stalled and popped the circuit breaker on the generator. This is a killer little power unit, for the money. I'd have to say it does NOT produce 1400 watts constant, probably more accurate to say it's 1400 PEAK, maybe 2/3s that constant (900/1000w).

We have a 30 foot travel trailer with 30 amp electric- will this power the trailer lights, a/c, and a few appliances? We may want a generator for a few nights of "boondocking" away from campgrounds but my wife wants a/c and power....
Asked by: Skippy
My generator came with a 8.5 Amp breaker. That means this generator only has 935 Watts (8.5Amps) not the claimed 1400 Watts (12.73 Amp). It would run everything except the AC, most likely. Without the fridge amperage (listed on fridge) it is impossible to say for sure. It runs my home fridge Rated at 7.2 Amps max (=surge or start). Volts x Amps = Watts or 110v x ?A = ?W Just remember you have exactly 935 Watt constant power, with slight surge for starting electric motors (slow trip breaker).

how many db does it have

how many db does it have
Asked by: fran
Disregard the "specs"... I ran. dB meter, and it seems notably quieter than 64-6 dB that was reading. The curious thing is that it's "exhaust note" fq is lower, so it doesn't "shriek" at you, like a weedeater. More basso, doesn't seem as loud.
