Questions & Answers

will this run a 15 amp power tool?

Its hard to read but it looks like the 120v outlets are rated 8.5 amps. Is that each one? if only one is used is it good for 17amps?
Asked by: Rich
The circuit breaker for the entire AC load is rated at 10 amps on the gen2000 I recently bought. The sticker on the recoil start reel reads 3.5HP so they upgraded some. Blew the circuit breaker trying to run a 13 amp well pump after a few seconds.

does this generator come with a set of wheels?
Asked by: oldman
No, and You have to order a wheel kit that will fit this generator. I bought the ds4000 wk wheel kit and I had to drill the mounting holes for wheel bar assembly and the support legs. I could not find a ready to mount out of the box kit anywhere. The generator is great but I wish they would provide an optional wheel kit

We purchased the Sportsman generator for our August 2017 camping trip during the eclipse and it was fabulous having the convenience to recharge our phones, run our coffee pot, and our projector (yes we took a movie projector and screen with us - we were very far from other people/campers so nobody was bothered), etc., we loved the portability, ease of use, and were glad we brought it on our camping trip!! If your campsite is far, you might need two people to carry it. The reason for our circle around the generator (see photo) was to be in compliance with fire safety - but we really had no concern about starting a fire, and we were prepared for fire just in case, the generator was operated while we were awake anyway.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dropped voltage after 700 watts I had high hopes for this generator after using the Sportsman Inverter Generator (which is excellent.) This little 2-cycle generator, while labeled as higher wattage than other generators like it, is nothing more than a rebadge of other low end 2-cycle 63cc generators. It can't handle anything over 700 watts. Add to that the fact that the overload circuit fails to work. I had 10amps on this generator and the only signs it was overloaded were the voltage had dropped to 63v output. You read that correctly...add too much to the unit (anything over 700 watts) and the voltage will start dropping. This can be damaging to both the generator and anything plugged to it.

It arrived quickly after I ordered it. Thankfully it got here the Friday before hurricane Irma hit. Our power was out for a full week and I ran the generator almost 24-7. I was surprised with how much I was able to power at one time. At any given time I had the deep freezer or refrigerator running from one outlet and several things through different cords off the other outlet. I recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little camper generator Bought 2 of these for a group camping trip and they are great - put out more than enough power for our group of 7 campers. We ran tent and gazebo lighting plus radio, speakers, pump for air beds and lake floaters and everyone's portable phones and tablets. Next time we will also bring a portable a/c unit to help keep the tents cooler. I used a 75ft extension cord and could barely hear them running - I thought they were very quiet.

At least the neighbors cell phones stayed charged among other things powered. We were out of power for more than 5 days. I was pleased with the run time on 3.6 gal of fuel so even being able to run it intermittently for lack of fuel was very helpful. I live I a condo so the generator sat outside my door under the stoop and faithfully fired up on every first pull. My only problem is where to store it for future use. I have to say that no one in town or surrounding area had generators left before the storm hit so, with limited hope, I ordered online on Tuesday and Home Depot had it at my door in 2 days with free shipping! It was supposed to be here on Friday but instead it came Thursday and the hurricane hit on Saturday night! I was so surprised and grateful because I thought it might not make it before UPS shut down. Not sure if Home Depot rushed it out knowing I was in the path of destruction or not but knowing how they support communities in time of disaster, I think they did.
