Product Overview

  • Dual fuel: runs on liquid propane gas (LPG) or regular gasoline
  • Electric start feature
  • 6000 running watts/7500 surge watts
The Sportsman Series 6000/7500-Watt Dual Fuel Generator can power common major household appliances and power tools and provide emergency power during blackouts. It's great for running the RV while out on the road or for keeping essential appliances going during a power outage with either regular gasoline or LPG (liquid propane gas). The 6.2 Gal. gas tank allows the unit to run on 87 octane gasoline for up to nine hours (at 50% load). You can also simply connect a typical gas grill 20 lb. cylinder to the unit with the supplied hose. The benefit of LPG is you will never experience a no-run situation due to bad gas again. With 7500 peak / 6000 rated watt, this powerful generator can handle the needs of most contractors, homeowners and recreational activities. Use the generator right out of the box with the recoil start or install a motorcycle battery (not included) to activate the electric start feature. The generator boasts an engine run time of nine hours at 50% on a common 20 lb. (gas grill type) cylinder (LPG cylinder not included) or 6.2 Gal. of unleaded gasoline. A 5 ft. propane fuel hose with a regulator is included for added convenience and the 13 HP engine is surprisingly quiet, running at less than 80 dB.
  • 7500 peak surge watt and 6000 rated running watt can run the RV, household appliances and power tools
  • Great for use while camping, for emergency power during a blackout or on the job site
  • Runs on gasoline or liquid propane fuel, giving you flexibility while out on the road or during an emergency

what manufacturer is the engine and is battery included?

Asked by: Rob
The manufacturer is Buffalo Tools Lawn & Garden, and is manufactured in China. Battery is not included but recommends a motorcycle battery. (can't use a car battery, or you'll change batteries more often because of cranking initial power requirements). Cannot use Natural gas (just mentioned though it does use LPG).

It was to supply power for compressors and for the well pump. It performed flawlessly for the year of building a shop, and a home. Started first pull almost every time. When done I put Stabil in the tank and stored it for another year. Today I got it out to drain the tank and hook up the propane conversion so it would be ready to use as a standby supply. After sitting for a year, it still started on first pull and runs like a champ. Emptied the gas, ran it dry, hooked up the pro[pane and it purrs like a kitten. Definitely pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected Wasn't sure about the brand, I have had "name brand" before. I liked the dual fuel option - propane far more available after disaster, plus i get almost 24 hours out of a 10 gallon propane tank. My first unit stopped running after 5 uses. HD sent a new unit. No problems with 2nd unit. Use it at job sites and after tornado this year. Recommend starting it once a month for 10 min run time.

It ran ok.. had to keep it choked to run smoothly.. So I changed the stock regulator on the generator to a Century Garretson Style Kn Low Pressure Regulator 039-122 Converter Natural Gas Lp - just unhooked the tube going to the carb and put that onto the inlet.. I got the idea from another person who reviewed the smaller version of this one. after installing the new regulator the generator runs great with the choke fully open.

I bought this generator in May during the tax-free hurricane preparedness weekend not just because it was on sale but also because of the awesome reviews it received. When Hurricane Irma hit a few months later my neighborhood lost power for 4+ days. I am a small woman and this generator, although pretty heavy, can be maneuvered by myself as it's on wheels with pull up handles, kind of like a wheelbarrow. The directions for the installation were very clear. It was easy to fill both oil and gas (or hook up to propane tank, I like this feature). With the fuel gauge on top it's easy to check to see how much is left. The key start is more than wonderful. It kept 3 frig/freezers, 1 chest freezer, miscellaneous lamps and fans, my cell phone charger (on a surge protector of course), my makeup mirror and my blow dryer running for the entire time. The important things. I love this generator. I named him Chuck. He's invincible. I expect we'll be together for many years.

I have only used this unit with propane , and it started on the first pull . fairly quiet and it does not disappoint in the power department . ran my freezer , well pump and water heater no problem . if it only idled down when unloaded it would have gotten 5 stars . very reliable and more than enough power to suit my needs , would highly recommend this generator !!!

It powered a fridge/freezer and a fan for 10 hours nonstop, using about 3/4 of a full 20-lb propane tank during that time (on 25% load). It started on the 3rd pull and ran flawlessly for that 10 hour period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ordered online and arrived undamaged. Bought this for camping and emergency use. Dual fuel option... Ordered online and arrived undamaged. Bought this for camping and emergency use. Dual fuel option is great! I will run propane most all the time, but the gas option is there if I need it. Read the manual, filled with 30w HD oil break it in and will change after break in period. Slightl oiled the air filter, hooked up propane, gave her a quick pull and vroom! Ran about 8 minutes to warm up then plugged in ceramic heater on low to apply a load. Kept turning up the heater to increase the load over the next 10 minutes to around 1500w ..... Didn't even blink! Left it running and went inside for dinner. About 1 1/2 run time and not a single issue. Will run more tomorrow. Quiter than I expected, but a tad on the loud size for a crowded campground. Will use most when out in off the grid areas and as emergency use or shelter. We shall see as time progresses, but very happy so far and a great price!
