Can you run your home computer with it?

Asked by: beverly
Matt is correct, for one good reason: the manual has a schematic that reveals the truth. It clearly shows windings feeding an AVR, that taps off and goes directly to the A/C outlets. A D/C outlet is also available, but it is generated from a separate winding feeding a rectifier and diode assembly. The quality of AVRs vary greatly, but they are hardly the culprit. The main problem is that usually the average homeowner, like me, wants to keep the lights on during the occasional outage, but doesn't want to pay much for the privilege. I am usually taxing my generator to the limit, riding the fine line between brownout and throwing the breaker on the generator itself. I boast to my friends about how I can run the whole house off my portable generator. My generator throws oil and growls at me, but it has worked well enough. I would not trust it to run vacuum tube appliances and early electronics, but I agree with Matt that modern devices have good power regulation nowadays. The key point is: buy a generator big enough for the job, and the power phase shifting issue that is the REAL issue with cheap A/C generators won't be a major factor for your electronics.

How does it run a camper

How does it run a camper
Asked by: Ed
We used this exact model on a 1993 NuWa 33' for several months. Ran it on gasoline and would get 12-14 hours per tank. Had to watch wattage requirements such as don't have the Keurig coffee maker, 1500 microwave and AC running at the same time. This was our only power supply for several months in the spring of 2017 in Nebraska and again for a week after IRMA hit Florida in September. Quieter than expected and its compact size allowed it to be stored in the campers storage area.

9,000/8,000-Watt Dual Fuel Powered Electric Start Portable Generator is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 1183.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Started right up I received this generator last weekend. The truck delivery was easy, the driver took the generator off the truck and used a big hand truck to bring it down my steep driveway which was appreciated. I had an electrician wire in a whole house transfer panel switch into my 200Amp service box. This allows me to select any circuits off the panel to keep on as long as the generator supports the load. I used gasoline to fire up the generator for the test and it started on the first pull. My plan is to update my NG line to the house and have access to that set up outside so I can run on NG. But for now, all set with the big gas cans in case power goes out. The only thing I would say it that having to source the battery is a bit of a hassle but I don't expect to need that until I switch to NG, I understand that the generator can be more difficult to start on that fuel. During the test I left everything on and we cut over the whole panel and the generator didn't miss a beat. I had the heat on some lights and both refrigerators so that was great.

Let me start by saying that Sportsman has one of, if not the Best Customer Service Department I have ever delt with! No, I am not associated in any way with their Company! I bought the 7500 watt Generator last year and performed the Break in procedure! After Hurricane Season I winterized it and put it away! I had my sights set on a backup Generator less than a Sportsman of the same Wattage (3500 watt)and had plans to purchase it for this Hurricane Season! However when I broke out the 7500 I realized that I had lost the Propane Regulator and called Customer Service to purchase another one! The Customer Service Representative (Darlene) said no problem we will ship you out one today, is there anything else I can help you with? I said wait a sec, I haven't paid for it yet! Her reply was "as a one time Coustomer Appreciation Service, we are sending your replacement at no Charge"! Could have knocked me over with a feather! Sure enough a couple days later my replacement arrived! Oh I almost forgot, my new 3500 watt Sportsman arrived last Tuesday! Hope I didn't get Darlene in any trouble with this review!

I bought this generator in May during the tax-free hurricane preparedness weekend not just because it was on sale but also because of the awesome reviews it received. When Hurricane Irma hit a few months later my neighborhood lost power for 4+ days. I am a small woman and this generator, although pretty heavy, can be maneuvered by myself as it's on wheels with pull up handles, kind of like a wheelbarrow. The directions for the installation were very clear. It was easy to fill both oil and gas (or hook up to propane tank, I like this feature). With the fuel gauge on top it's easy to check to see how much is left. The key start is more than wonderful. It kept 3 frig/freezers, 1 chest freezer, miscellaneous lamps and fans, my cell phone charger (on a surge protector of course), my makeup mirror and my blow dryer running for the entire time. The important things. I love this generator. I named him Chuck. He's invincible. I expect we'll be together for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ordered online and arrived undamaged. Bought this for camping and emergency use. Dual fuel option... Ordered online and arrived undamaged. Bought this for camping and emergency use. Dual fuel option is great! I will run propane most all the time, but the gas option is there if I need it. Read the manual, filled with 30w HD oil break it in and will change after break in period. Slightl oiled the air filter, hooked up propane, gave her a quick pull and vroom! Ran about 8 minutes to warm up then plugged in ceramic heater on low to apply a load. Kept turning up the heater to increase the load over the next 10 minutes to around 1500w ..... Didn't even blink! Left it running and went inside for dinner. About 1 1/2 run time and not a single issue. Will run more tomorrow. Quiter than I expected, but a tad on the loud size for a crowded campground. Will use most when out in off the grid areas and as emergency use or shelter. We shall see as time progresses, but very happy so far and a great price!

I bought this so I could power my camper I have parked on some property I have near red feather lakes Colorado. I was a bit skeptical when I saw this guy online. The generator arrived in perfect, unused condition. I didn't have time to try it out at home, so I crossed my fingers and toted it up to the property. I have a 30 lb. LP tank that I connected to it, grabbed the starting instructions and it fired up 3rd pull. It starts 1st or 2nd pull once it has fuel hitting the carb. It runs my A/C, fridge, tv, and charged 2 phones all at the same time. I could not be happier with this generator and have already recommended this bad boy to 2 of my outdoorsy co-workers. It was an added bonus that I happened to buy this while it was on clearance, it was almost $500 cheaper than normal. Very, very satisfied customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installation Boy, am I glad I read the reviews. Thank you one and all. The owner's manual is not all together accurate. Mine said I could call Buffalo Tools, the wholesaler, to buy the battery. I called. They told me they don't sell batteries. They are a little hard to find but fortunately we have an Interstate Battery store near us and wow, were they helpful. If you don't have one nearby, go on-line and have them ship you one if you can't find one elsewhere. The directions were very little help in putting the portability kit on.. A review I read said tip it on the side as it is not shipped with oil. Very good idea. I would attach the battery terminals before installing battery as it is a very tight fit. I would also use a bread tie on the battery wires as they can easily rub against a hot engine or generator part and burn. Haven't started it yet but my wires would have definitely burned.
