Spring-hinged legs and a removable lid with secure clamps make this 15 in. Dia fire pit convenient to pack in the smallest car trunk for a weekend getaway or an impromptu picnic on the beach. The Sporty Fire Pit comes with lava rock for attractive looks and flame dispersal, as well as a regulator and hose to attach the pit to your own standard propane tank, which is not included.

AnswersYou most likely can add to the existing hose. We have a 10 ft propane hose which we use to connect our outdoor propane grill to the propane tank of our motorhome. We bought an adaptor from Home Depot so we can use the fire pit during camping while connected to the motorhome propane tank. This way we do not have to bring the 5 gal propane tank along.
Can this be used for cooking? Would like to make some apple butter in a copper kettle outside but...

AnswerIf you find a sturdy metal grill to place over the entire stove, you could probably do that. Just be warned that the bottom of your kettle might get black burn marks on it. I noticed that the lava rocks were turning black where the flame comes in contact with the rocks.
How does this fire pit start? Do you happen to have a lighter or does it have an igniter?

I bought this two months ago when I saw my sister's in Florida. I did a lot of research and was so excited to find the fire sense sporty gas fire pit. I love the instant on an instant off feature. I never thought I would go to gas because I love wood fires oh, but you can't beat the look, The Heat, and the convenience of a gas fire pit!

I wanted a propane fire ring for around $200 and All the ready made tables they sell are crap. Dropped this little thing into $100 worth of paver stones they stock at depot locally. Took the ring and lid off an old wood fire pit I had for trim. Looks great. Internal ignition is a little sketchy with this much BTU. A long lighter would be safer. Lots of heat output and my wife is happy. And we can take it camping if we end up on fire ban again. Its all good -

We purchased this fire pit a few months ago and it has worked out really well for us! We love having a campfire but don't have the room to carry wood with us when traveling. This fire pit solves the problem of having to carry wood or find some near our campsite. Also, I was very surprised at the amount of heat it produced. We couldn't be more pleased!

Bought this to go with our camp trailer for chilly nights where woodfires are forbidden. Haven't had a chance to take it camping but we have been enjoying it on our deck in the evenings. It was easy to put together and puts out lots of heat. Great little unit.
