Questions & Answers

Is this an AFCI breaker?

Is this an AFCI breaker?
Asked by: Don
No sir, not at all According to the NEC (210.12(A) (B), and (C)) you need to have AFCI Protection on 120V Circuits, do not mention anything about 240V circuits. So, whatever you are power with this breaker you don't need to have AFCI protection.

I have an existing 240 V line with a 50 amp breaker. I wonder if this 20 amp breaker could accept the #6 wire that is there? I want to use it to create an electric car charging station and don't want a possible over amp situation for the charging unit.
Asked by: Solarguy
You would need to trim the line down for it to fit. If it is copper wire you could do it but, aluminum, I would not recommend.

If u have 24 spaces and 30 circuit what's the 30 circuit for or what does it mean
Asked by: Jeff
Basically Jeff, it means I hope you aren't doing the install yourself, you don't know enough about electrical installation. But, to enlighten you a little: The number of spaces indicates how many breakers you can install in the box. If the number of circuits is more, then your box will accommodate tandem breakers (two circuits per space). Now, please call an electrician to do the install. Hope that helps, Ray.

It was easy to change and the water heater worked beautifully once it was installed. The plastic rectangular band that connects the 2 breakers is a little flimsy but did not effect the breakers performance.

I just replaced the same product which had been in use for 25 years in a heater circuit. It had become a bit weak. If this one is the built the same internally it should last at least another 25 years.
