Will this work on qoc40uf square d box
Asked by: Mike
Mike, you will need to bounce your model off the Square D web site to make sure you get the correct one. I did order the wrong one one my first try because I did not pay attention to the fact they make them for indoor box's and outdoor box's. So be sure to make sure you check that. If you order through Home Depot they do m as me returns real easy.

is there a interlock that will work with a sq d qo 20mg 225 series L4 with a main breaker that is installed horizontal not vertical
Asked by: Ron
I purchased the generator interlock kit for my panel, square D QO load center C30UF. It has a horizontal main breaker configuration. It has the older style breakers from year 2000. Mine is rated 200 amp main disconnect, which I added to the panel as my disconnect was also located at the meter service entrance. As I recall there was two kit models one for the older style QO breakers and one for the newer "Homeline" series. The interlock kit fit my panel perfectly. Just place a "XX" amp rated 2 pole 240 volt breaker in the upper right (#2) location. Everything is provided including the drill template for the interlock hardware. There are two kit models, one for each style panel, just get the correct one for your panel. Get your panel model # and find it on the Square D web site. I have never seen a vertically mounted main breaker. perhaps your panel is just rotated 90 degrees. Good luck, RB

Will this work if the main brkr is on the bottom

Asked by: Randy
Dont think so I had to move my gen breaker to the top right next to the main. They are sold for specific panels the one for yours will be different. Take a picture of it and take it to the store and ask an electric dept employee that may know something, that may be a challenge.

I have a QC816F200C panel. Will this kit QOCGK2C work with my panel?
Asked by: Joe
I have installed many interlock kits on Square D panels with no issues. I have not installed an interlock on your model panel althought the spec sheet states that this is the interlock for Square D QO outdoor panels listed between 150-225 amp. With this said, I feel it will fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The easy way to connect gen power to a house. Getting an interlock kit like this that fits your house panel is the cheapest, cleanest, and easiest way to get generator power to your house (that i've found). Obviously this one works just with it's brand & models of panels, but there's probably one from your panels OEM as well. You only add one cable into the panel (for the incoming gen power), so there isn't a spaghetti mess of wires added when you're done (as well as extra panels to confuse you later with what panel controls what circuits, etc). With this, you can send gen power to any house circuit you want even running some for a while, then rotating to others (versus having a very limited selection with add-on panels and nothing else besides that selection can ever be run). Just be careful about how many things you turn on at once while on gen power which you control from the breaker box (you may want to plan a system labeling certain breakers with color coded stickers or such to know what they run & how important are they). The cost of this and other parts needed can easily be less than that of the add-on panels alone. So I see nothing wrong with this and virtually everything I've heard like "You can easily overload your gen this way" can be countered with statements like "Anyone can plug in too many things at once, so you need to watch your loads regardless of your system". The only problems you may face is you need 2 extra breaker spaces & must free up the breaker spots at the top of the panel (spaces 2&4) for the gen breaker, it must go there. Also, the panels these go on must have a "Main" breaker at the top that disconnects all utility power, if you don't have that you can't set this up. If those aren't a problem, then this will be as easy as anything else to install and give you the most options for how to utilize your generator power when needed.

I am an electrician with 40 years experience and don't work for Squared D. I have purchased electrical products including transformers, panel boards, circuit breakers etc for almost 35 of those years. The support from Square D, the quality of their products, the clarity of install instructions and the uniformity of their products have made me a loyal customer. The pricing of this product is not just based on the cost to manufacture. This is a part that will often be installed by non-electricians, so there is an extra element of risk to the company. The design and prototype testing costs are also in the price. I have no hesitation in recommending Square D products (and their people).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, not expensive alternative to manual trasfer switch when you know how of adequatly distribute house loads to portable generator. A safe and inexpensive alternative to installing a manual transfer switch for portable generators to prevent potentially dangerous back feed to the Utility's Electrical Distribution System. It took me about 1 hr to carefully install the manual lockout. Supplied drilling template and instructions were spot on. Operational instructions and decals were clear and concise. Also saved money purchasing from HD rather than local Electrical supply although I ordered from them first and never received a call for pickup. Since I worked on live conductors for a Utility Company splicing up 750 MCM live, I felt comfortable working live but with caution. I don't recommend the same for the everyday DYI person. Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) is a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, Simple Product I liked this inter-lock kit. It was easy to install it even give you the template to drill the holes. I opted for this over a transfer switch for two reasons: 1. The cost of the transfer switch and it's limited amount of circuits 2. The ability to turn on any breaker I want in my box to power up anything. The transfer switch limits you to how many circuits you can have or might want to use.
