A: Great question BillM, thanks for asking for it. Yes, these pin top balusters to taper down into a larger diameter. There is a continuous diameter down from the tip of about 3 inches, then it gently tapers into a larger diameter from there on down. Before you order the balusters, compare the bottom blocks of your current balusters and the ones you're looking at here. If your bottom block is 7-1/4 inches, then it's going to be a close match. But it's the bottom blocks you'll want to match first. Also, take a good look at the turnings of the baluster. These should match, or come close to matching. If those dimensions match your existing balusters, then purchasing a 36 in. baluster to trim down may be your best bet. If you have additional questions, post them here, and we’ll reply as quickly as we can. A: Hi unique, the square portion is 7-1/4 in. tall, from the base to the edge of the taper. We do sell balusters with extended square bottoms much like you describe, just not in this particular style. If you're interested in doing a special order, visit any Customer Service desk inside a Home Depot store for more information. Thank you.

A: Hi Unhandy, these primed balusters have a pin on the bottom that allows for easier, more precise installations. The pin is 3/4 in. diameter, and 1/2 in. deep. If you have additional questions, we'll reply as quickly as we can. Thank you.

A: No there is no Nipple on the bottom. My banister had holes already drilled underneath. I cut it to fit then angled the bottom to match the stairs and used a finish nailer to attach it at the bottom.

The problem was that we had to go through and empty each bin to find the two sizes we needed. Six at 34” and six at 36”they were all mixed up. Not sure if the customers mixed them or new stock was not put in the proper bin. Otherwise a good experience. Loved findtthe two light fixtures we did!

All I had to do was cut off a bit on the bottom and after installing, it matched perfectly with the rest of the Balusters. This house was build around 2013, so it was nice to find a matching Baluster for my client. Also painted easily.
