Worked like a dream. This was my first time messing with a curved railing. If you do a bent rail, plan on a clamp AT LEAST every 8”. The larger the curve, the more clamps you need. Also, there is a rail you can buy to make the clamping easier and helps you keep more even pressure.

Well said, and your suggestions are correct. Best practices for bending rail is to one clamp every 8-10 inches of rail. It sounds like you had success with your project. Thank you for your feedback. SureWood-LNL

Overall the product was good but 2 of the pieces arrived damaged. I would give 1star for product information and support. This was my first time attempting a curved railing and wanted some clarity. There were no instructions, no links for help or tutorial or contact info for support. Not even HD

Hi Sawbladehead, thanks for leaving a review. We will work to post bending rail instructions in the near future. As you alluded in your comments, bending rail installation is one of the most tricky projects that stair builders have to do. SureWood-LNL

We bought two 16-ft handrails and used about 12-ft of each. Our bend radius was about 6-ft and while that wasn't a problem, getting down to the advertised 4-ft minimum might be a bridge too far. We used DAP plastic resin glue. Problems? Not any really. The glue has a short 20-30 minute working time so that lit a fire under our tails to get all the leaves glued, assembled and clamped against the wall "form" but otherwise it all worked well. The only surprise was the mirror image pine clamping/assembly aids sold here under a separate part number. The HD photos showed two caps (one on each side) and the quantity said "1" which I assumed meant one pair. It actually meant one side. We chopped up our one piece to clamp over and made out okay but the advertising wasn't clear. That part number is now "obsolete" so I don't know what they intend you to use.

Hi al, your product review is "gold!" Thank you for the great information. First, we tested our bending rail and found that bending it to a 48-inch radius worked. However, recent tests have found that 48-inch radii were too tight, but 54-inch radii were acceptable. Based on your experience and our tests, we will change our text to read that a 54-inch minimum radius is recommended. Secondly, we will update our copy to reflect that these are sold in "one piece," not a pair. You deduced correctly that the mould is cut to fit underneath your clamps. If you have additional questions or need more information, we will do our best to assist you. Thanks again for an informative product review! SureWood-LNL

Hi Dagen, sorry to hear about your experience with this product. We tested our bending rails, using bending mould, and they met the 48-inch specification. Perhaps you received a bad section of rail. Please contact us 678-455-5188 with your order information so we can learn more and possibly replace that section for you. Thank you. SureWood-LNL
