Q:Can this tread be used to replace the existing tread on stairs?

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, I replaced six steps with these removing the old ones then staining and protecting with polyurethane to match the laminate wood flooring.

by|Feb 20, 2022

A:  Yes. This tread can be used to replace existing treads assuming you can get the old tread off without destroying the stringers. Or you can cut it down a bit and use it to overlay the existing treads.

    by|Feb 12, 2022

A:  Yes you could, but I installed them over existing treads.

      by|Feb 8, 2022

A:  It is simply an unfinished oak stair tread. If it fits where you need (or you can trim if needed) it is a quality, solid wood tread.

        by|Feb 7, 2022

A:  Yes that is exactly what I used it for. Steps in Ryan built homes are not sturdy.

            Answer This Question

A:  It would be easiest to finish before you install.

            by|Mar 25, 2021

A:  Normally the treads are installed and then finished. I don't know how you are using them but nails are the norm for installing on a stairway.

A:  It is due to the saw dust that occurs when we sand and cut the product.

A:  Stair landings are going to be a custom order, you can see our full selection at www.Stairtek.com, the store would then place a call to us for a custom order and we would provide them with all pricing details. We offer 7 different species of wood so I am positive we would be able to find something that matches!

A:  What you are needing are the risers - these are the exact match to the oak treads (steps). Attached is the information that you requested regarding the risers. Be sure to order the unfinished oak risers to match the treads.

There were other products that we found before purchasing these that had a core of manufactured wood and only a thin veneer of oak. These were solid oak through and through.

These stair treads are beautiful! The quality is great. They come pre-sanded, so I just had to run a sanding block over them a few times before finishing them. I did not stain them; I only used polyurethane on them, as the red oak color is beautiful! Also, as I was applying the poly, I could see streaks of the red oak come out. Not one stair tread was damaged either. They were packed four (4) to a box and very well packaged!
