Q:Is the break strength for the strap and ratchet or just the strap itself? What is the break strength of just the webbing?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello from Stanley cargo management team, Following up on your question: When a strap is rated for its working tension strength , in this instance 500lbs. (S10004-12) the entire ratchet strap in use, is tested (In field use and under monitored testing machines) To answer your question: The ratchet head, small strap end, hooks or loop ends, and long strap when under tension strength – all combined, is used to determine the working strength of the strap.

I dont like the shape of the hook.
The hooks sit at at 45 degree angle. I would prefer more of an "U" shape to the hook.

A little hard to assemble but works well.
I needed these to tie down some packing totes to the roof of my car. My brother had a hard time assembling the pieces together and one piece did work right at all. However they did the job. I was able to drive 700 miles and then some without my totes coming loose.

I got the Stanley straps for hauling and securing larger furniture and equipment in my car. Compared to the larger 1.25" width straps I prefer this since this will work for most people. It has shorter 87" spare strap length that makes it easier to store when not in use. The quality is decent and will last. There are lots of sharp edges, it would be ideal to wear work gloves when using. The stitching on the straps look good and will hold for most applications.

These are very well made and easy to use tie down straps. The webbing is well finished and the length is great for large objects in the pickup bed. A very detailed instruction sheet accompanied them which is unusual for the these things. Easy to set up and get going and super easy to release and remove when done. That has always been one of my pet peeves with straps is the removal process. Most are hard to do without pinching your fingers. These are great and the plastic covering makes them even easier to use. I took one star off due to the packaging. Ridiculously difficult to get the two straps out of the plastic. It doesn't have to be this hard. Overall a very well made product which should last a long time. Highly recommend. Just don't put them back in the plastic package.

These work like other ratcheting straps with a release lever to push flat to release. They are easy to use and seem like they will not get twisted and jammed up over time. The material is quality so I think these will last too. The yellow color is nice and sharp, plus it should make them easy enough to find. They came in a big plastic package, which seemed un-necessarily bulky and tough to cut through, but it was no big deal.

I needed a strap to hold together material and they worked excellent.

economical and easy to use and adjust - attachment of the strap to the wratchet could be improved.

              Worthless
Three of the four jammed and no longer release. Total waste of money and a very frustrating experience.

Two of the 4 straps shredded the first time I used them. These are not heavy duty, but the ratchet itself is nice so they’re acceptable for light use. Definitely not 1500 lbs. break strength.
