I’ve used one of these tape measures for the past 15 years. They are not as big and heavy as the 25’ ( I always have the 25’ in my tools when needed ) Just love the reach you have when needed.

This is a great tape measure to use for small, simple jobs around the house. It's solidly constructed and functions just like it's bigger brothers. The black that surrounds the body has a rubber feel that provides good grip. The tape itself is metal and can extend a little over 3 feet before it "snaps". Only inches and feet are labeled but the marks in between are clear, distinct, and easy to count. The hook is non-magnetic and has the play like a full-size tape measure. (The hook on the tape measure I bought was black, not chrome looking like the image, for those that care.) I don't have much use for the key chain attached, other that twirling it around on my finger between measures. That being said, I wish this tape had the clasp on the back so I could clip it onto the outside of my pocket, since it might be just big enough to be annoying in your pocket. The button to lock the tape slides and clicks smoothly, and when released the tape reels up with a good amount of force. All told, I'm very happy with this little guy and have made a couple friends jealous. You would be wise to buy it from Home Depot since most other places I saw sold it for twice as much.

    Tape broke way too soon!
I have been using this for less than a month. I try not to let the tape close at full retraction speed, but it happens. On this tape, it only happened once and the tape split as shown in the photo. Not good!!

Large numbering, good standout, & snappy return
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 16' tape is a good length for most measuring tasks and keeps the overall size of the tape smaller and lighter. The standout is good at 8'-9' and the numbering is large and easy to read. It has a snappy return, we'll see how that lasts over time. One complaint, and it is a minor one, I hate trying to get the tape off of the packaging, it always seems to be more of a struggle than it should be.

        Super Tape!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the size of the numbers. Easy to read with inch break down between each foot as well as overall inches. Overall 16ft is great for most of my needs.

          Good Ole Fatmax
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you want a reliable tape this is what you're looking for. I've owned countless Fatmaxes and nothing beats this guy. This is probably the best tape money can buy, the blade has an unbeatable standout, this thing holds up to large drops (25 foot off a lift from personal experience.) The only issue I've experienced is it will loose its re-tractability after a while of use (in commercial and construction environments.) I would advise keeping the blade clean and this shouldn't be an issue. Overall, I will continue to use the Fatmax family of tapes for the foreseeable future.

            Heavy Duty, Not Bulky
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a Commercial Roofer and we do Extremely Large projects. The Stanley Fatmax 16' has come in super handy. Its strong construction allows me to continue using it in the toughest conditions. Other tape measures do not hold up. I absolutely love this one!

              Good tape measure
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to replace my old Stanley tape measure that kept disappearing on me. It is light weight, very easy to read numbers, and has a great stand out. I was able to get 10' out of it before I decided I would quit playing with it and get to work. First thing I used it on was a metal rack that I had to cut in half. Made my honey to list project go quickly. Wife is happy and so am I.

Apples to Apples to Pineapples comparision.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the pleasure of using these two new tape measures on a recent home project. I have the Stanley FATMAX 16'(36 316), the Stanley FATMAX Classic 16' (33 716) and my 12+ year old Stanley Lever Lock 25' (30-825) tape measures. First thing, I never owned a 16' tape before. It is small, base ball sized. Fits in your hand well. The actual tape is wider than my 25'. The 16' is 1 1/8" wide. the 25' is 7/8" wide. What they call stand out is close to advertised. I reached 12' 8 " with the FATMAX (36 316), 13' is advertised on packaging. I reached 10'3" on the FATMAX Classic (33 716), they advertised 11' on the package. My 25' came in at only 7'2" (30 825). I'm not sure what Stanley claims I should have for the old tape. Since I have only been using the Lever Lock for so long, the thumb locks on both 16'ers seemed a little weird for me. Just cause they are new, the thumb locks are a little stiff. I am sure that will wear in quickly. Both tapes are easy to use, read & lock. The clamps held tight. These 2 new tapes retract very quickly. Keep your fingers away when these things get close. I could see getting a cut or two on my fingers till I get used to them and learn to keep my big hands clear of the fast moving tape. My 9 year old daughter was helping me and she noticed something I never thought about. She asked why the numbers are upside down. She is Left handed, and when you draw the tape with your left hand, the numbers are upside down. She wants to know if Stanley makes a Left handed tape measure.
