Move knife blade slide until it latches into notch one step back from full blade extension. Then you press in on the yellow tab and pull the blade out. Reverse blade and reinsert into knife and make sure it catches slide properly.
Extend the blade all the way forward, then push down on the top button again, the blade will extend just a pinch more! Now depress the yellow (blade-release) button on the side and hold it; the blade will come out easily, it'll even fall out if you hold the knife so the blade points downward. To install a new blade: ensure the blade carriage is FULLY extended, depress the yellow blade-release button and slide the blade in! The blade carriage will not lock in the over-extended position, it will slide back just a pinch into the in-use fully extended position. It sound oh so complicated but once you've done it once, you'll laugh at the fact that you ever had trouble
Well you did better than I did. I got zero blades in the package and yes it was ridiculously hard to open.
Push the button on the back of the handle and the bottom of the handle swings down. Blades are stored in there. None are in the knife when you get it.
I just cut it with a scissors and pulled it out.
