lifetime warranty replacement in the store or through the manufacturer

lifetime warranty replacement in the store or through the manufacturer
Asked by: hd
Your warranty will be covered by the manufacturer. It is important to understand that you, the consumer, will be responsible to pay for the return shipping of your faulty tape measure to Stanley Black and Decker. This will cost you at least seven dollars to do. Therefore, your lifetime warranty is pretty much worthless. Your energy is better spent by simply purchasing a new tape measure, and preferably one that has been manufactured to higher standards. This is a 'throw-away' tape measure.

Is the structure of the tape measure metal or plastic?

Asked by: Cole
The tape itself is metal with a mylar coating. The housing and thumb lock are plastic. It is shiny on the outside, but the outside material is plastic.

PowerLock 25 ft. x 1 in. Tape Measure is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1028.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin I know sometimes tapemeasures can seem kind of mudane, and its easy to grab the nearest cheap one hanging by the checkout, since it will 'get the job done', but I am here to say that if you want less frustration in your life buy this tape measure. I build patios, and measure a lot of things in super dirty and dusty conditions. One day in particular sums up the quality of this product. I was in a rush and set it down on the ground. Well an already sloppy spring day became much more so wet-cutting stone. Long story short this tape got so caked in mud that you honestly couldn't tell what it was. It just looked like a ball of mud. I picked it up, put the hose nozzle up to the thing sprayed it out until the water ran clean and the thing started working as good as new. It boggled my mind. That tape lasted until someone accidently hit it with a chainsaw. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what they used to be I've owned these type tape measures all my life. They have always been long lasting and affordable.....Until now. The measuring "paint" is sub quality and usually wears out within a week or two with constant usage [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tried and True As far back ad I can remember, my Dad always had a Stanley PowerLock tape measure. As an inquisitive kid, I would grab that tape measure at every opportunity and as I grew old enough, I eventually used it for a variety of projects. Now that I'm grown up, I've purchased one or two of these for my own DIY "shop" in the garage. It has suffered through some drops, getting a bit wet, and being played with by my own kids. I have other more expensive tape measures now, but I find myself reaching for this old classic all the time. It's light but sturdy, and very reliable. The highlighting for stud spacing comes in handy, and the no frills hook is often just the ticket. Sometimes, a crazy huge magnetized hook just gets in the way. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried and true I have had this Stanley tape measure for several years, its stays in the garage workbench and is my go to tape measure for any job. However, since my wife also some crafting and little projects at home I decided to buy several "other brand" tape measure for her to use placed in drawers throughout the house. Those other brands did not even last a fraction of the time my Stanley tape measure did. And I am not easy on my tape measure, its been dropped, thrown and generally abused while doing household projects inside and out. Because of the the reliability of this little tape measure, slowly but surely, i started adding to my Stanley tool collection. Best product in the market! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great memories When I was 6 this was my first tape measure, a gift from my dad. Now this may be the newest version of the one I have but it has the beauty of the first one I recieved. My dad taught woodshop at a local night school and loves woodworking. He presented me with this tape measure for a birthday present and said no matter how big or small the project this will help you achieve great results. I was 6, but all I knew at the time was I get to go with dad and help him out at night school when mom was working. Now life has taken me through many different paths from little wood projects to the machine tool and die field which captivated my attention more, to the telecom industry in which I work now. Through it all that tape has been there helping me make accurate cuts, helped me save on materials, and even help reach my keys last week I dropped behind a filing cabinet. But all God things find a way of progressing forward as I've passed it on to my nephew who currently use to measure how tall everyone and thing is. So, I look forward toward purchasing this tape for myself this week when I get back home from work. Thank you for being there to help me make some great memories and great results. PS love the sockets you all make too. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No.1 Tape Measure I've used my STANLEY Powerlock 25ft TAPE MEASURE for over 5 plus years and the tape measure has always performed without failure and has exceeded my expectations always in using it time after time in small jobs and large ones as well around my home and many other areas other than my residence. The quality and durability of Stanley products has and will measure up to all others in durability and perform to the full extent ever time in usage for the individual or construction industry worker also. This in my opinion and many others can and will stay with your product this day and years ahead. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and durable! I do a lot of house flipping that contains a lot of cabinetry work, flooring, counters, mirrors, etc. I have had a lot of different tape measures but they have all broken in one way or another! Bent blades, tip breaks off as it retracts, you name it. I decided to spend a few extra bucks on a couple of these and could not be happier! The blade will stand out about 8ft with our “breaking” so you can get some good distance measurements and no kinks whatsoever so matter what I do to the thing. Won’t be buying any other tapes any time soon! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ole Standby I have used Stanley PowerLock tape measures for more years than I can count. They have taken beatings and are still as dependable today as they were the day I bought them. I don't think the PowerLock can or should ever be replaced. I have used all other brands and some new "Red" brand have failed within a few months. I have some PowerLock tapes that are going on 20 years and they still are solid in spite of being used daily. It is something special, no gimmicks or special bells, just a good honest dependable tape. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
