StarPro St. Augustine Ultra is our very tall and lush turf often chosen for a magnificent front lawn, better than the shorter and less dense synthetic turf found in backyards. This is a very dense grass with 80 oz. of grass blades per square yd. It looks like real grass but has the advantage of lower maintenance cost: no watering or mowing is required. The superior appearance results from the tall 1.75 in. field green and apple green grass blades held upright by an interwoven tan and green thatch. Our new C and S shaped blade profiles stand straighter than flat blades, especially when infilled with sand. Grass blades are UV stabilized to help grass withstand sunlight without color fading so it maintains a natural look as a thick freshly mowed natural lawn. There are 1/2 in. drain holes every 3 in. so rainfall passes through at 50 in. per hour. - Grass can be cut with a box cutter razor or utility knife from the back side. Grass pieces are joined using StarPro seam tape (sold separately) with tubes of Liquid Nails Fuze It All Surface Construction Adhesive. Align joined pieces so the direction (grain) of grass blades is in the same direction
- Infilling the blades with 1/2" of medium to coarse sand is highly recommended because it stands the blades up, cools, adds weight, softness and extends life

AnswersIt won't grow anywhere, but it will cover your sand just fine. Compact it first and you might have to put down weed barrier to keep the soil in place before putting down the synthetic (fake and not real) turf.

AnswerCut to the shape you need and use galvanized ground spikes (min. 6") every few feet-depending on location to secure to ground. Spread on sand over grass with a rake or broom to help the blades stand up more naturally. It will give you a beautiful look.

The product was easy to install. We purchased a 10 x 15 foot section and were able to drag it into place with two people. Actual product measured more than 10 x 15 leaving a good bit of overlap for the perfect fit. The dogs love to lay in the sun on it and it's holding up well to their foot traffic-the turf has not shifted at all.

It is early days, we only installed this 2 days ago, but I am impressed. The product arrived in excellent condition, over wrapped with plastic and the grass facing in. The delivery timing was not well estimated by Home Depot, but perfectly reasonable in the end. I needed to trim 3' off of the width and that was easily done with a razor knife from the back-side. I followed the You Tube video by applying 1" of crusher fines, rolling that, the rolled the turf in place. After trimming to fit, I applied 1/2 of the recommended amount of sand , then broomed it in; it looks great! I hope it lasts 8-10 years before the sun destroys it.

Bought a small sample (15'x2') to try in a shaded area of my property before I decide to go bigger. It is one of the top-of-line appearing artificial turfs for lawn coverage (I did a lot of research). Bought a bag of turf nails as recommended, did a small amount of ground prep and install was smooth. Looks so real but it is hard to remember that grass could look this good since it has been so long since I have seen a 'real' green well cared-for plush lawn. By the way...this is NOT lawn for golf putting. They make one for that need. Looking into that one too.

The product is dense and great quality. Unfortunately it is misrepresented. I purchased this product expecting it to be 2" in height but it was just under 1.5". If you're looking for a realistic grass height, this isn't it. It looks like a plush carpet, not a lawn. The return was arranged quickly and they explained that the specs had changed. I see that after a month they still have not updated their website or the Home Depot site with the actual measurement.

This is one of the best purchases I have made. It is easy to install and looks so natural. It even contains thatch as if were freshly mowed. I have to remind myself that it is artificial. I had two proposals to have it installed and it was four times the cost of what I purchased this for from Home Depot online. With heavy rains it still looks natural and it drains through the holes in the turf mat. The coloring is a bit different on the rolls that I purchased later and if you look closely you can tell they are from different dye lots. Overall I am so pleased with this product and the fact that it looks freshly mowed at all times and to maintain that look I don't have to get out my lawn mower. Thanks Home Depot.
