4X4 height needed?

I understand a 4x4 is required for installation. (and Saccrete) What height should the 4x4 be? How deep in the ground does the 4x4 need to be? I am asking because I know Home Depot will make the cut since I am not able to cut it. But I need the exact inches for them to make the cut.
Asked by: NONO
4' height of a 4"x4". Put 2' in the ground and the other 2' fit perfectly in the mailbox unit.

Customer Reviews

MailMaster Trimline Standard Mailbox, Spruce is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from MailMaster Standard Mailbox So far this mailbox has stood up to neighborhood kids and their footballs and basketballs. Hopefully it will survive the next hurricane, unlike my last mailbox. I realize the style will not appeal to everyone, as it did not appeal to me before I reluctantly bought it. After I installed it however, I realized it does not stand out as much as I thought it would, and I have since grown to like it. I also really like the front and rear access doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from well made product This mailbox is definitely a good purchase. It has both a front opening and back, so that when you want to get your mail, you do not need to step out into the street. It fits around a standard compressed wooden post bought at any Home Depot or Lowes for about $7-11. There is some assembly, but it is minimal requiring only a screwdriver and hammer. It even comes with stick on numbers to apply for your address.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice, easy install The mailbox looks very nice, is not as bulky-looking as some we have seen. Although it is a standard size, the actual inside of the mailbox is smaller than our previous one and it will take some getting used to. We do wish it was a little larger on the inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Buy I recently had to buy a new mailbox because someone vandalized my old one by hitting with a hard object. I've seen many of these MailMaster boxes around, it seems everbody has one! I saw Home Depot's online free shipping promotion and decided to check them out. The price was very reasonable, so I decided to order one. It was delivered within a week or so. I was not disappointed. It is sturdy and had very little to assemble. I had the mailbox together in about 10 minutes. My boyfriend helped me cut my old post down to size and it was mounted in a flash. I chose the Green Spruce color and it looks great! If you are looking for an inexpesive, sturdy, attractive and easy to assemble mailbox, then I strongly recommend the MailMaster Standard.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from super easy This mail box was very easy to install, just wish I knew I needed more tools like the 4x4 cut in half and a bag of cement. Once I had the remaining items it was a breeze installing it. Now if it withstands hurricanes...................

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy peasy way to get a new mailbox delivered to your door. Free shipping , good product and easy set up. I am a 70 years old grandma and did it myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Sturdy Mailbox Extremely easy to assemble, looks attractive. Post already in place so merely had to cut down to 24". The magnets on the door openings are added plus. Because it is a Step 2 product, trusted the durability as my children had many of these branded toys when little and they outlasted everything else. Really the only thing I wasn't crazy about is the exposed bolts on the front, but no big deal. Will just have to wait and see how it stands up against the New England winter and plow drivers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install This is a great mailbox, I have no complants with it but you do need to change the 2 screws that hold the plastic plate over the wooden pole to a phillips screw most people won't have the square bit that fits those screws.
