A:  It appears that you've found a typo. While I'm not sure of what you are looking at, the 12 Gal bin dimensions are 23.5" X 19" X 9" which yields 4018.5 cu in. 1 cubic inch of water is equivalent to 0.004329 gallons. Calculating: 4018.5 cu in * .004329 gallons or 17.39 gallons or 17.39 or ~ 18 gallons of water. Unless you are transporting / storing liquids, however, it's really the L X W X H that most folks use to select a storage container. The gallon measure is superfluous except to compare relative containers, i.e. the 18 gal is smaller than the 30 gal container.

A:  The container itself is super durable and will be fine to fill with water. The latches to lock the top are not 100% secured. I wouldn’t recommend filling it too high if you’re going to be transporting the water somewhere.
