I see that this door is NOT energy star qualified. What does that mean exactly? We live in a Northern climate with potential for very cold, harsh winters. Energy efficiency is very important. How does this door stack up in regard to energy efficiency?
Asked by: Stacey
I'm not an engineer or an expert on the EPA's rating standards but I do own this door, live in NY (which gets cold) and also strive for energy efficiency. HD sells more than 1000+ wood doors w/ glass and only 12 hold the coveted Energy Star rating. The 12 Jeld-wen that do are made of a core that is engineered finger-jointed wood with a veneered top coat and not real solid wood. If I had to guess, real solid wood doors inherently are not measured in the same way (or held to the same standards) as doors made of engineered materials. For what it's worth, this door has double pane insulated glass and comes with adequate insulation at the jams. If you buy it, make sure you use a furniture polish/wax a couple of times a year to preserve the wood.

To obtain a FL building permit, a new door requires a FL approved number. I see Steves and Sons has FL #'s for other doors listed on the Florida database of approved building products, but I do not see a number for this door. Does this door have such a number?
Asked by: anonymous
Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately then this door should not be sold in the state of FL by Home Depot, unless Home Depot is advocating not getting building permits when installing an exterior door. Buyer Beware. It would be terrible to order the door then find out from your inspector that it is not FL approved and must be removed.

Are the windows beveled? You responded to this previous question with, “glass is clear.” Beveled is still clear...

Please research “beveled” and let me know, thank you!
Asked by: JT
No, this model does not have beveled glass.

This door was installed on my home in February of 2017 and it is October of 2017 and it looks as if it has been on the house for 3 years. I will include pictures however the finish has completely weathered and there is actually water absorbing in to the door. The finish/protective coat is very thin, if there is even a protective coat on the actual door. The wood is chipping off in spots. I understand that wood is not as resilient as fiberglass but I certainly would not have expected to have this door to decompose after 6 months. Every door should be built to withstand a certain amount of rain and sun. The manufacturer does not stand behind their product! Do not purchase this door if there is a possibility that you will get ANY sun or rain on the door! I am totally unsatisfied with my purchase and the way that Home Depot handled the complaint.

We selected this door along with many other Home Depot items as we have gutted our house to the studs. We have not even had the door for a year now and the finish is already coming off. The pictures on the website does not look like their is a reddish tone to the door, but in person there is. Which now completely throws off the flooring that was already selected. I very much regret purchasing this door and wish I would have spent the extra money to pay for a fiberglass door and did more research with my northern area and especially color to make sure the picture isn't deceiving.

The door arrived 1 day sooner than expected and delivery driver was able to help me put into my garage. The door was packaged very well for shipment - there was more lumber in the shipping materials than the door itself. I did not realize that the trim on the outside of the door frame overlapped the 52" x 80" measurements and had to cut my stucco back in order to get the frame seated all the way into the door jamb. I took off 1 star due to the fact that there was about a 1/4" offset on the frame on the top inside corner on the door side; not that big of a deal after putting up the trim and caulking, but would think they would have it close to flush. Overall very good looking door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Door and Great Value! We changed the outdated front door after purchasing the home and we absolutely love it! It provides a tremendous amount of natural light and with the layout of our house, we couldn't be more pleased. The glass panes are high quality and the door just looks outstanding. It took a while to get it since the manufacturer kept delaying the availability but 100% worth the wait.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from door issue One of the seals around the window in the door was compromised and you can not see through it and a second window above it is doing the same thing, this is a new house we have been in not quiet 2 years and of course the builder wont correct it. However it was purchased through home depot. And to agree with another review the color has faded really bad and it has been restained once but it still looks bad now.
