Q:I understand that warranty will be voided if I cut the door height. That's no problem for me. Is there a wood strip across top (or bottom) of door that can be trimmed? If I trim what will the door be like??

Answer This Question
A:Â Think of regular blinds - they have a cord that you raise and lower to open and close the blinds. On these doors there's a sliding lever that runs the length of the window. Think of this lever being attached to the string that opens and closes the blinds. Just slide the lever down to pull the string and open the blinds. Raise the slider to close the blinds.

A:Â There is a tab that runs along side of the glass. Either lift up tab to close the blind or push down to open .

A:Â There is a sliding lever inside the door. It open and closes the blinds, and also slides the complete blind to the top of the door for a clear view out the glass, unobstructed by the open blinds. Remember, the blind system is encased in glass, so you can't physically touch/dirty them.

Don't do it!
Had the door installed for a week now. Getting condensation on the interior door metal strip after two days of install...trail of water coming from the bottom of metal strip. Manufacturer says this is normal. Only assistance they offer is for me to buy an upgraded part that will allegedly help, but not correct the problem. Going to have to pull the door out and pay to have a new one installed. Lots of money wasted.

junk
Door came 2 weeks earlier than they said it would, so my help couldn’t be here within their 72 hour window to install it. Once we started to install, found the doors opened out instead of in, like i ordered it. So I called HD, and the manufacturer, and they both told me i was out of luck. So i had to totally disassemble the doors, and rebuild them. The double doors are junk, I would stay away from steve and sons products unless you like giving away over 2k worth of your hard earned money for junk. One star is ten times what they deserve!!!

This was a slab replacement for an existing door. Outside of some hinge adjustments (just make sure you line up the old door with the current hinges on it next to the new door and mark the locations), it was fairly straight forward replacement. Quality seems fine (hey it's been up for a week, ok?) and I do like the sliding integral blinds. So overall, I'd recommend it.

Everything came as ordered. I ordered a french door with all composite or fiberglass materials. The shipping crate was sturdy and the door arrived on time. Installation took two people as the double door was too heavy for me to easily manipulate myself. Once shimmed and squared up in the rough opening, the door functioned perfectly. The strike plate and slot for the deadbolt were easy to adjust. There were no instructions for drilling holes for the slide locks but it was obvious what needed to happen to make everything line up and work properly. The unit did not come with brick molding.
