DHC tankless water heaters are ideal for residential and commercial point-of-use sink applications including: bathrooms, cabins and cottages, office buildings, stores, malls, warehouses, restaurants, and gas stations. They heat water instantaneously and endlessly at 99% efficiency as it flows through the unit. Because they do not store hot water like tank water heaters, they have no stand-by energy losses. Venting is not necessary and the compact European design can be installed with the unit visible. The hot water temperature delivered by a DHC depends on the incoming cold water temperature, the flow rate through the unit, and the size of the DHC model. They excel at supplying water at a constant temperature but the model must be carefully matched to the flow rate of the sink to operate properly. Refer to the DHC Sizing Guide to determine which model you need. Call Stiebel Eltron at 800.582.8423 with any questions. Stiebel Eltron invented tankless electric water heating technology more than 90 years ago, and is still the industry pioneer and world leader today, with an engineering and manufacturing tradition of excellence.
  • DHC 10-2 is designed to provide endless hot water at 99% efficiency for 1 medium-flow or high-flow lavatory, kitchen, or utility sink in warm or cool climates
  • Requires 1 dedicated 40 Amp breaker and 8-Gauge copper wiring for 240-Volt electrical service or 1 dedicated 35 Amp breaker and 8-Gauge copper wiring for 208-Volt electrical service
  • Model must be carefully matched to the application in order to operate properly
  • Water connections are 1/2 in. NPT and should be detachable (such as braided steel flex connectors or isolation valves) to allow for easy servicing
  • Overheat safety protection and thermal protection reset are standard
  • Sleek European design is considerably smaller than a tank, saves space, and allows installation flexibility
  • Made in Germany
  • Professional installation recommended
  • Call Stiebel Eltron at 800.582.8423 with any sizing questions
  • 7-year leakage and 3-year parts residential and commercial warranty against defects in workmanship and materials under normal use

Will the DHC-10 shut off when hot water from tank reaches it?
Asked by: rockygap
No, the DHC 10-2 will not shut off when the hot water reaches this unit. You would purchase the DHC-E 8/10 to do that. This unit has an electronic temperature sensor and will turn off once the hot water reaches the unit. Please feel free to contact our Technical Department at 1-800-582-8423 ext 6 with any further questions. Thank you.

Plan to replace a tank water heater with this in the same location. It is about a 20 foot run to the two sinks that it will serve. They are very seldom used. Salesman said that the tankless heater would take much longer than the tank heater to supply hot water. Question: if this heats instantaneously, why would it take any longer than the tank? Either one would have to run the 20 feet to get to the sinks so I would think the timing should be about the same, or at least no more than an additional few seconds to run through the coils.
Asked by: Mungo
Placing it closer to the output source is desirable for best performance. Produces hot water very quickly and a longer run will cause a short delay.

How do I make DHC 10-2 more sensitive to flow?

Unit shuts down if cold water is mixed at the faucet to temper the water temperature. The cold flow reduces pressure in pipe and the flow sensor shuts off the unit. Can the flow sensor be adjusted? (already change to bigger pipes...helped but did not solve the problem)
Asked by: Miketheplumber
Use the flow adjustment screw to set the desired temp and don't inject any cold water into the mix, i.e. use just the hot side water. If problem continues, call Stiebel Eltron.

The water gets hot for the sink but only warm for the washer. I don't know if the flow to the washer is not strong enough or what but at least I get warm water washing. And the washer and sink are right next to each other and on the same line so....I don't know.

I have used Stieble-Eltron tankless electric water heaters to heat water for my whole house for more than10 years, and have been extremely satisfied in every way. When one of my older DHC-E 10's stopped working, I ordered the DHC 10-2 as a replacement. What I failed to notice is that the former needs only a very low flow (about 1/4 gal/min) to activate, while the latter needs about 3/4 gal/min to activate. In my situation, a low flow rate is required to get the necessary temperature rise, so the DHC 10-2 was not going to work. For someone who can tolerate a higher flow rate and lower temperature rise, I'm sure the DHC 10-2 will be a great heater. For me, the solution was to replace the DHC 10-2 with the DHC-E 8/10. The latter is the replacement for the one I've been using for the last 10 years. It is a wonderful product - plenty of hot water with low electricity consumption. I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertized Installed, adjusted, working. Cost about as much to install (in materials) as the unit cost (I needed 50' of 8/2 wire). Only complaint is on install the bracket holding the wire junction block became disconnected due to the stiffness of the large gauge wire. It was easily reconnected. Flow rate and incoming water temp are key factors, so best to make sure your situation will work by testing these values. Still working great now a month after install. Will be interested to see how our moderately hard well water (7 grains) affects the performance over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DHC10-2 Tankless Water Heater Used for kitchen sink which takes forever to get hot water as it is on opposite side of house from hot water tank. Installed in basement below kitchen sink rather than under sink cabinet where there is little room for plumbing and it works wonderfully, now have hot water in 10 seconds. Would get hot faster if installed under sink in cabinet as it is closer, but by installing in basement did not have to work lying down. Other than cost of running the heavy gauge wire to unit no negatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Instant hot water! Love it! Instant hot water, works better than electric water heater in the house. This went in my shop for washing poodles :) did have to upgrade electrical and have a dedicated 50 amp breaker.
