        A:  It should be mounted so it is stable. It wont sit great on its own and with moving water, it should no be allowed to move.

          A:  Mine is sitting on the floor, but off the concrete sitting on a small 2x6 platform just to keep the unit from getting robbed of heat by my cold cement slab in the winter. It has the ability to be mounted on the wall as well. Also, I did not use a drip pan. Instead, I ran the overflow into a used 1/2 gallon plastic bottle. To my knowledge, it has never once overflowed. The first year I checked the bottle frequently and never once even had a drop of water in the bottle. I've had this water heater now for 4 years and its perfect.

              The water heater was super easy to install. It has ½ inch connections which match my faucet connections and a pressure release valve. Other similar heaters I looked at had ¾ inch connections which would have caused me pluming problems and did not come a pressure release valve. Also, I like that the heat control is on top of the unit. On the negative side, I keep my water temperature about medium but only get about one gallon of water before the temperature drops. It does not have a drain plug on the outside of the unit which would make maintenance easier.

                    Great little water heater. Simple swap-out from the previous 2 1/2 gallon model. Easily enough hot water for a single shower, and not even at max temperature (although perhaps in wintertime I will have to max out the temperature for showers).

                      This water heater is a new installation in a homebuilt RV. Based on my experience with this brand in Germany over 5 years, I expect that it will have a long and productive service with normal maintenance.
