My carpenter bf is obsessed with his gift. He said the 10 is for general carpentry and the 15 is for framing.

Bad quality
I was so excited to buy this hammer always wanted it for the past years only to realize that it was a garbage quality hammer broke in 3 days of use !
They don’t make them like they used to
Prior to getting the Stiletto hammer, I thought all hammers were basically the same for us non-trademen. After getting the TiBone, I know now all hammers are not created equal. Ok, yes the cost of this hammer is up there BUT it is designed to be the ONLY hammer you will need for your life. If the grip wears out, you can swap it with a new one. I have the smooth faced head but if you want to swap that for a different face, a quick turn using a hex key lets you pop off the face for a really quick change. What stands out the most though is the weight / balance of this hammer. The 15 oz. is perfect for the vast majority of people but this hammer feels like a feather. On the top of the hammer is a small magnet with a slot for nails which will hopefully keep your thumb out of the way. If you are wanting a hammer that you will be able to own and enjoy for your life, I'd highly recommend getting this one.
This is a special designed 15 oz. hammer that has a long 18 inch curved handle. It is a “big” framing hammer that is very light weight (45% less weight that expected for a long hammer). It is perfect for rough framing. It has a180 degree side nail puller that allows you to easily pull large nails such as 16D. It even has a magnetic nail starter. Great to have for rough construction projects.
I have been in the market for a quality framing hammer for a while so when I came upon this Stiletto 15oz all titanium hammer I couldn't pass it up. It arrived in a fairly large shipping box, measuring 10 1/2" by 6 1/2" by 28". I was immediately impressed by the size and weight of this hammer. It is a large hammer, measuring 17" long and 6" wide at the head but it only weighs about 33 ounces total with the head accounting for 15 ounces of the total weight. I had my wife pick it up and she thought it was a toy as it was so light. According to the label, it weighs 45% less than steel would for the same size hammer (which I find very easy to believe), allowing for less fatigue throughout the workday. I got the version with the smooth face which is replaceable by unscrewing the star bit located at the back of the head. The grip is very comfortable, with a nice natural placement for your hand and thumb. You are also able to swap out the grip should it get worn out or you prefer a different color (again, using a star/torx screwdriver). It has a nail puller on the side that allows for 180 degree access. It also has a nice magnetic nail started on the top for when you don't have enough hands. The hammer is made in the USA and you can tell it's high quality. I didn't notice any odor when I unboxed it. I didn't have any immediate projects to use it for but I couldn't help but grab some scrap wood and give it a few swings and it was amazing. For such a light hammer it truly does hit like a much larger, heavier hammer. I am very pleased and would highly recommend this hammer.
Wow the balance on this hammer is amazing. Almost feels like I can’t miss. Features include magnetic nail starter, flush/180- degree nail puller, and comes with large smooth face and seeing that even that is replaceable. Grip is firm rubber and nicely shaped for comfort and it too is replaceable. Longer handle allows for a lot of power in driving framing nails. A great addition to my toolbox!
First day using this for stripping forms on parking structure and does not hold up to my old Tb3 or estwing, my claws look like they been abused for years and not even 2 months have gone by with this hammer and face is already moved around a bit. Long story short quality has went down since Milwaukee acquired the company. Spend the extra money on a Martinez or kinetic customs.
The nail puller I received doesn’t say titanium under the stiletto logo. I’ve had it since April and it’s already messed up pretty bad. I don’t know if there are different versions of them.
I’ve used many different styles and brands of hammers over my career with wooden, steel and fiberglass handles. This hammer has a titanium frame with a replaceable rubber handle and a replaceable striking cap available in smooth or waffle. I chose the smooth and gave this a try for a week on the job. I immediately noticed how nicely balanced it felt in my hand and how comfortable the rubber grip was. The hammer swung nicely and drove 3” nails well with much less impact force transmitted to my arm. It definitely helps prevent fatigue on long days. The claw works well pulling nails and the nail puller on the cheek works well too. This is my new favorite hammer. I highly recommend giving this a try.
The Stiletto T-bone hammer is probably the single best tool I have ever owned
I am reviewing the Stiletto 15 oz. T-bone smooth face with curved handle.
My first impression was, how amazing this hammer felt. This hammer just felt like it fit me perfectly - the hammer of my dreams - if I were to dream of hammers.
This hammer is made of titanium and will almost never break.
This Stiletto hammer is only 15 ounces but is much longer than any of my other hammers - right around 17” long.
Please see my first 2 pictures to show the length of the Stiletto and the comparison between “normal” hammers.
This hammer does take some getting used to, with the increase length you will have to adjust your aim to hit the nail consistently.
With less weight in the handle and the longer handle, more speed and force is delivered onto the nail with less effort on the person. With this hammer I feel more productive.
If you notice my 3rd picture, the Stiletto holds one nail in place for the initial hit with the hammer to start the nail. There is a slot and a magnet to hold the nail in place. This saves many fingers along the way (especially when getting accustomed to the hammers length). It also saves time when manually hammering in many nails at once.
The nail puller on the side is wonderful and helps to remove stubborn nails. Even my Wife found it easier to use than our other hammers to remove nails.
We can also replace the head of the hammer easily with a flat or jagged faced side.
The handle can be replaced with the same color of a variety of colors of handles.
So when the hammer face or handle wears out, just buy and replace them and it is like having a brand new hammer.
The one piece titanium hammer will almost last forever and can be handed down to your grandchildren.
This is probably the single best tool I have ever owned - just love it.
Replaceable face and handle - this new version offers nice updates.
I’m a DIY’er/Homeowner, not a pro trades carpenter, so this review comes from that standpoint.
Being of “a certain age” I have issues with incipient arthritis of the hands and previous jobs (auto mechanic, assembly line worker) have left me with a tendency of getting elbow pain with repeated motions - such as swinging a hammer.
The 15 ounce Stiletto is only 1 ounce lighter than my usual smooth faced hammer, but it’s quite a bit longer. I can repeatedly swing the new Stiletto getting less elbow and wrist pain.
One of my old hammers has a hickory handle and seems to pick up less actual vibration than the Stiletto - I should note that there’s a different model Stiletto that offers a titanium head and a wood handle. My new one has a titanium handle - pretty much unbreakable but a bit more vibration than a wood handled version might offer. However, I'll stick with this all titanium model - not much chance of snapping a handle off while extracting nails with this thing.
The Stiletto offers other advantages - the handle cover is replaceable; undo a single screw, cut off the old material, slide on the new cover and tighten the bolt. The face of the Stiletto can be changed from framing to smooth and back again as needed. This isn’t something a pro would do on a regular basis, I suppose, but for an DYI’er like me I can swap out to the milled framing hammer when I’m on such a project while (most of the time) maintaining the smooth face on the hammer. There’s also an optional mallet cap (see photo below) - very handy for those times you need a rubber or leather mallet and don’t have one handy. BTW - it’s recommended to check the torque on the face bolt occasionally (40-44 foot pounds). Instructions for replacing the grip and/or the face are available on the Stiletto website.
There’s a ‘thumb’ grip on the top of the grip - I think this will be a point of personal preference; some folks will like it when choking up on the handle, others may not. I kinda like it. The balance of the tool is good (IMHO).
I like much less the “Stiletto” logo that’s molded into the handle (see photo). Three times I managed to grab the hammer and slid my thumb into the sharp arrow point. Ouch! I’ve not tried to grind that point down yet; for the present I simply taped over it. But it’s a poorly designed feature and Stiletto should consider rounding that sharp point off.
There’s a nail puller, and a magnetic nail starter built into the hammer, as you would expect. Both features work well; the nail puller is on the side of the hammer and I can generate significant pulling force without worrying about the titanium handle breaking.
Oddly, the hammer is guaranteed only for one year. My steel head / wood handle hammer (from another manufacturer) has a lifetime warranty against defects - and costs only a fraction of the Stilleto. So I’m dropping one star from the review due to the short warranty given with this hammer; I think a year is much too short for this level of tool. (YMMV). I can understand that the milled face would suffer in a professional setting and not last more than a few months - but surely they could warranty the hammer itself (if not the face or the handle cover) for more than a year.
Overall, in use, I like this hammer very much indeed - anything that reduces the inflammation in my aging joints is worth the cost.
The tool is made in the U.S.A and the Stiletto website offers support options for a warranty claim or purchasing replacement parts. Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy.
