Questions & Answers

I have glass mosaic tiles and want to seal the grout. Is it okay for the sealer to to get on the glass tiles? Thank you

Asked by: RS
Your best bet is to test it out on a disposable glass tile or in an inconspicuous area. However, the marble that I sprayed this stuff on did not change color. Hope that helps.

How does this compare to the Miracle Sealants brand? Stonewalled costs a lot more, but I can't tell how it differs from Miracle Sealants.
Asked by: Julia
I never used miracle sealers. Stonewalled was recommended to me by a lady who used it. I found it to be very easy to use and apply. 24 hours and my shower was sealed and it seems to be working very well. I think it is worth the extra expense.

Has anyone used this specifically to seal grout?

Asked by: Sinaj
Yes, and it works well. The manufacturer said it was okay to get it on the tile--it would just wipe off--but instead I got a narrow-tipped squeeze bottle and drew it into the grout lines directly.

Customer Reviews

1 Qt. Penetrating Stone and Grout Sealer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good The previous owners of my house chose the wrong type of installation for the tile they selected. It's a faux travertine that is supposed to have very narrow grout lines, and has level, instead of slightly beveled, edges. But it was installed with 1/4-inch space, and the grout level is low. Not only can you really feel the edges when you walk on it in bare feet, but when you mop it, the edges scrape dirty water into the grout. Would be so bad if wasn't light gray. The dirty grout was vert noticeable changing from the kitchen, to lesser used areas, to more trafficked areas. So, I got on my hands and knees with a scrub brush and cleaned the grout. And I never want to do that again. I sealed it with this this Stonewalled sealer and kept my fingers crossed. So far, while I get a little bit of leave-behind when I clean the floor, I can wipe anything that puddled in the grout line pretty easily with a towel. Time will tell.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked and easy to use The showers and kitchen backsplash in my kitchen were not sealed. You can tell by adding water to a surface and see if it changes color or not. I used the bottle for my galley kitchen and two bathroom showers and still had plenty left over. You simply clean the surface, allow it to try, and then spray the sealer onto the surface. I used a sponge as well to help evenly apply it to the stone. The product says to keep the area dry 24 hours and is fully cured in 3 days. I followed these directions and had great results. As you can see in the photo the tile that was sealed had water beading and rolling off of it (top) and the one with the wet look (bottom) wasn't sealed. Product is a little pricey but saves you a lot of time compared to other sealers I've used. It also doesn't leave a shiny/glossy look that some sealers do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the price I love the play on names here "Stonewalled" does exactly that - it stonewalls (blocks) liquids from penetrating: "stone, travertine, concrete, masonry, marble, limestone, granite, brick, pavers and grout, every mineral based surface that darkens when wet". I used this sealant to treat the shelves in my bathroom that are notorious for water stains and soap scum and have required frequent cleanings to bring back to their natural finish. Stonewalled effectively has stopped the build up of water stains and I have yet to see any deterioration after several months. The product claims it lasts 15 years in a residential application. We shall see!!! But for the price and the one time application it can't be beat. Thank you Stonewalled!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for travertine When having the bathroom redone, I went ahead and had the tub/shower area tiled with travertine, which looked fantastic! Until it came time to clean it...see, the funny thing about travertine is that you can't use normal cleaners on it, or else it will pit and discolor. Yes, they sell stuff that is safe to use on it, but it would be a lot easier if you didn't have to scrub like crazy to keep mildew from settling in the little pits in the tile, as well as the grout itself. That's where this stuff comes in - and it is the perfect solution. The tile is totally sealed (goodbye to scrubbing soap scum) and so is the grout, and now I don't spend an inordinate amount of time trying to keep the tub/shower area clean. The fact that there's no obvious discoloration of the tile is definitely a 'plus' as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasts 8-10 years! Bottom line is every other sealer I have used recommends re-sealing every 1-2 years, while this product says it will keep my granite sealed for up to 10 years! Applying grout sealer is a pain -its messy and not any fun. Its also one of those things that after I do it once, I never really think to do it again two years later. So with this product I can basically forget about it until my three year old starts high school!! The product also seems to work very well. Application was no different than other sealers I have used. Big plus is the spray nozzle which emits a very fine spray which makes it easy to apply an even layer. While I don't really see any change in most of the granite in my new house which may or may not have previously been sealed (and you really shouldn't) my guest bathroom definitely shows a difference. Prior to applying the sealer, that light gray counter would turn dark when water droplets where left sitting for more than a minute or two. After application the water beads and doesn't penetrate the granite, and there is no discoloration. Finally, the bottle is huge - I have A LOT of granite in my new house - huge kitchen & island, two bathrooms with granite counters - and I only used about half the bottle. Since I don't need it again for many, many years, I guess I will give the rest to a friend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use and works extremely well for sealing concrete We were looking for something to seal some custom concrete stepping stones we had made for our garden and decided to give this a try. It is very easy to use, just spray it on, let it dry and the water just pools on the concrete, so it works as advertised. The bottle comes with a pump action trigger spray and we barely used any of the solution on our project so this goes a long way. All you need is a kitchen towel handy to absorb any of the sealer if it pools on the surface. We sealed both the underside and the top of our stepping stones so we could stop the water being absorbed into the concrete and causing it to effloresce or crumble over time. We let it cure for the full three days before putting it outside and subjecting it to the 'watering can test' and as can be seen from the pictures, the water just forms droplets on the surface like a freshly waxed car. There was absolutely no change in the shading/color of the concrete between before and after sealing. According to the manufacturer, it can be used to seal stone, travertine, concrete, masonry marble, limestone, granite, brick pavers, grout. Once applied, you cannot walk on the surface for 4 hours, can't get the surface wet for 12 hours and the product is fully cured in 3 days. If you are putting it on a walkway that will be pressure washed, the maximum pressure washing it can endure is 800-1200 PSI. We also really liked the fact that it has no VOCs etc. and doesn't have any strong odor after application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Stonewalled Penetrating Sealer is easy to use. Just pressure wash or thoroughly clean the area, spray it on evenly, and mop up any excess puddles. After it cures, rain will bead up instead of settling in the surface of concrete or stone. It prevents the damaging effects of moisture and the growth of mold. It protects lanscaping and keeps it looking looking clean and new.
