Questions & Answers

Can I plant in November in Elgin/ Austin?

Asked by Christi November 13, 2017

You Certainly can. Acutally, the best time to plant wildflowers are in the fall before the rains come in to get the seed properly set for a spring bloom. thank you for your question.

How do they preform in North East Florida?

Asked by Nike2020 December 3, 2016

I would plant a hummingbird mix instead. These plants are specifically designed to grow in the Texas environment and there are other, better seed mixes for the Florida area.

Are they deer resistant

Asked by DB August 6, 2016

I would say it is deer resistant as much as any other flower is. Deer like to eat almost anything and i don't believe these flowers will dissuade them very much. Plant them anyway, they look so beautiful.

Can I plant in June?

Asked by flowergirl June 17, 2015

You can but, especially in Texas, it will require a lot of water to get it going. best to wait until after the heat breaks in August to plant and then you will be ready for the rains and beautiful flowers next year!

Raked the ground, spread out seeds, back raked. Kept watered, not one grew. Waste of money.

Can you tell me how long the planting period was for this project. All of the seeds you purchased have a recent germination analysis and should've germinated under normal conditions. Please bring back your empty container to the store you purchased it at and we will, of course, refund your purchase.

Well, this review is a tad premature as I just laid the seeds out a week ago. Anyhow, the quality seemed good and the sprinkle method of the canister was great. I got their wildflower mix and the bluebonnet. After they bloom I’ll see if I can repost to add photos.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. Industry standard in wildflower seed mixes is about 95% filler in most packages. Check the label of other competing products and you will find that the Lone Star Mix is a very good deal with both the quantity of seed and the price per pound.

Great value wildflower product with Texas flowers!
I checked other big box stores and none had the quantity of seed and specific Texan flowers that i was looking for in a product. i planted this in the early spring and was provided with lovely flowers all through until summer. The greatest thing about this product is that when the flowers die in the heat they go to seed putting in the ground next year's crop!

Thank you for your review of our product. We really enjoy selling wildflower seeds native to the great Lone Start State!
Very pretty
I planted the seeds last year and thought they had died. This year they have grown nicely, filling a space where nothing would grow. Now I have fresh flowers i for the house. I plan to get more.
