Please remember that this is a perennial flower and if you plant in the spring you probably won't see blooming until the next growth cycle. You will see vegetative growth upon first planting though. Another fun fact with this flower is once the heat cycle starts in Texas usually about end of April early May the flower will start producing seed buds and seeds will fall naturally as the flower wilts giving you the next season's crop! The package details 2.5 ounces that quite a lot of seed per packet. it doesn't show how many seeds com in there but this is the most provided in the entire garden department

Blue bonnets can be planted either in the spring or fall but remember that you might not get flowers in the first year of growth. taking this into account it is best to plant in the fall before the normal rains to get the benefit of all that moisture and then two seasons before spring that way you'll probably have a higher chance of blooms at that time (spring). Remember that when the plant starts to die in the summer it starts producing seeds which ensure more flowers the next year. this was one of the main reasons that Ladybird Johnson encouraged planting of bluebonnets along many Texas highways because they would bloom every year.
