Love this wood chipper
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a great wood chipper. We have so many trees along our fence line and this has definitely come in handy to create a mulch. It was very easy and took no time to assemble and get started. The machine isn’t loud either so that’s a plus! Overall, I’m very happy with this!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE it!! I cant believe how great this Sun Joe Electric Wood Chipper is! Its great for many reasons but ill start with ...free mulch! Its so great to finally be able to recyle all the shrubbery clippings , tree limbs and things that fall out of the trees into great mulch that makes my beds look better and improves the soil. No waste and no more hauling yard trash out to the street where it may or may not get picked up! This chipper is really light weight...i can handle it myself easily because its on wheels. i just put it over the bed i want to mulch..feed though the branches and clippings i want to dispose of and the mulch drops out underneath...it couldnt be any easier! it takes nice size limbs up to 1.5 inches thick. Theres a tool for pushing things through thats attached with a cord so it wont get lost. Safety features include rubber flaps so things wont bounce out, a way to disable the on switch and it wont start if its opened up to clear a jam. (ive never had a jam!) It was super easy to assemble out of the box . I really like that its electric...just plug it in and its ready to go. Its surprisingly powerful for its size! when im through with it i put a waterproof cover over it and push it behind the shrubbery where its ready to go again anytime. Its actually fun to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine does well with 1.5" diameter sticks. Anything larger jams the machine. Twigs that are small tend to just barely chop and end up as small 3"-5" sticks in the bucket. Wear eye protection because some debris made its way back up at my face. Burning your sticks would be faster but if you can't do that, this will work. If your time is valuable, this process takes too long. Machine is not ad loud as a typical lawn mower. I wore earbuds anyway.

Wow!!

It works.
It was easy enough to assemble, and made short work of a pile of bougainvillea branches and vines that I dreaded bundling for pickup. I ground them up and used them to mulch along my fence-line.

The chipper did not last two hours before it broke. The cutter head became loose on its shaft and the blades came into contact with the metal guard.
The chipper does not work well with twigs, leaves, any sort of thin, flexible branches, such as English lavender or star jasmine trimmings. It works with straight, rigid sticks.
The manufacturer wanted me to register the product before they would proceed with a warranty claim, so I returned the defective chipper to Home Depot.

Last year when I bought this I got about two hours of use out of it before a 1" diameter branch destroyed the metal plate (they call it the "splash guard") that directs the branches toward the spinning blade. The plate was broken in three pieces. I emailed photos to sunjoe, and my email was initially ignored because apparently their customer service email doesn't accept messages above a certain size, and the photos I sent (four of them) made my message too big. When I finally called to follow up, they arranged to send me a replacement part. OK, I thought I'd give it another try. So I replaced the part, fired up the machine, and this time got about 10 minutes of use out of it before a 3/4" branch stopped the machine with a "thunk" - looked inside, and yup, the same part is broken again, this time damaging the plastic casing as well. I don't know why they keep selling this machine, it is clearly not up to the task it is advertised for.

This is a nifty, small Grama sort of chipper. Easy to assemble, lightweight and easy to move. It handles trimmings up to 1.5 inches and, as another owner said, anything bigger is firewood. LOL. It should be a great partner in my brush reduction campaign.
