Will do OK, I try to bundle the thin branches together by feeding them all together in, the bulk will make up for the thin wood.

I have used this chipper on fresh cut limbs with leaves and pine needles still on. So far 20 hours with good results. Would have given it a 4 except i have to slow the feed some on the green pine needles. Blows through wood the best.

Great for most residential chipping,
I did some much-needed tree trimming and the tree’s look great, but did I have a lot of branch’s! I borrowed a friends CJ601E (the 14-amp version) chipper and absolutely loved it…so much so I went out and bought a 15 amp one for myself, direct from the manufacturer! Buying direct gave a 2-year warranty, which is nice insurance and a sign the company is selling a quality product. I did a bunch of research and for chippers in the price range my budget could afford ($100-$150), there were not a lot of choices. I own some other SunJoe / SnowJoe products and knew they were reliable and very cost effective, so went with SunJoe. My research revealed a lot of reviews calling this a cheaply made piece of equipment that could not handle larger branch's, but it seems most of reviews were from people expecting this to perform as well as a $700-$800 chipper. I was initially concerned with the size limit of the branch’s it can chip, but I simply cut the larger (greater than about 1.5”) branch’s up and burn then in my fireplace or backyard firepit. One negative I have is on the opposite end of the size chart, I found that thin twigs (1/8” – ¼”) tend to get passed through and not chipped efficiently (See the attached picture). There needs to be a gap between the spinning chipper disk and the guard inside and I found smaller twigs can pass through the gap and therefore are not chipped. On the positive side, it does as good of a job shredding leaves to reduce the size / volume, as most leave blower/shredders I do like the fact you can buy replacement blades (2 per disk in the unit), so can swap those out, when the chipping efficiency drops off. I have re-sharpened the blade I removed, and efficiency returns to as good as new. Since the motor is a 15-amp motor, I suggest investing in a good heavy-duty extension cord. I bought a 12 gauge 25’ cord and it does not get warm, even after running the chipper for a couple hours. The wheels allow the chipped to be easily moved to where you need it and it taller than it is wider, so does not take up much room in the storage shed Bottom line, this chipper / shredder is well worth the price, but does have a few limitations, as I have found with all the residential quality tools, regardless of make, that I have purchased

great for soft straight sticks
the gap on the knives is too big and .5 cm slivers go thru uncut and often wrap around the spindle - the leafy branches plug up won't go thru and are hard to pull back out too - poor design on the opening. blades are dull already about 5 -6 bushes/ small piles of chips - sorry i'm returning it - powerful and quiet though - but not cutting it for me - too bad
by wanted it to work
What took me so long
I am so happy I got me one now I can cut down my flowers like I want to and don’t have to worry thanks for making my life so easy

I Love This Thing So Much I'd Marry It!
I was pleasantly suprised at how easy it was to set-up and use. I've used it twice. The first time for four straight hours - it performed quickly with only one jam, which was easily corrected. I gave it relentless workout and it performed beyond my expectations. The photo shows how much there was to initially shred and how much of a dent was made. I used it again the following weekend for a much shorter amount of time and although it did tend to jam more than the first time, it still pulverized the pile. I love it!

could be a 5 with tweeks
this chipper was easy to assemble and seems fairly powerful. it's best for small yard clean-ups. My first use was the destruction of our Christmas tree. I chipped the big branches like a champ. Many of the needles passed thru unscathed. I wish it had an interchangeable hopper so that the top was leaf friendly. As it stands feeding leaves seems too labor intensive. For the price it's a nifty little machine though.
