Do not know the answer to that one. Mine has never quit like that. You might check the extension cord yesterday I spent a half hour trying to figure out why it was not working and after checking the house breaker, the extension cord connections i found that the plug in the garage had pulled too lose to make contact.

Will this break up florida sod?

I am not familiar with Florida sod and quite honestly I use my Sun Joe in a relatively small garden in Arizona. It has some torque on the tines that I'm happy with but I have several years of using the tiller in this enviroment and my soil isn't hard.

Does this come assembled or do I need special tools?

Hello Asana. The only item that needs assembly is the handle, and it is installed with simple hand tools. Kind regards, Al.

I live in New England. What happens to this unit when, not if, I hit a big rock?

if you hit a rock or hard object it will bounce back at you....and you will have to move the rock ...its is a small unit not meant to move mountains.

Better then expected
We have a small garden about 3’ deep and 16’ long. Roots are bad every season and my wife would dig them out by hand. So we gave this a shot. Suprising results! It ripped the roots right out. However they do get bound around the machine. Just pay attention to how the motor is behaving snd clear the machine manually and it wasnt an issue. Clearing the machine is a little labor intensive but way faster and easier then doing the garden bed by hand. Worked amazing after the roots were out to mix the new soil and fertilizer that we laid down. Would buy again!

Pleasantly surprised
Like a lot of the other reviewers, I didn't expect a lot for a little electric tiller . I gotta say, it's amazing. I tilled up virgin ground in the backyard for flower beds and it worked great. I'll admit, I wasn't the nicest to this little machine. Between the vines, roots, clay, and rocks in my backyard , this little thing should have shorted out.

If I could give this more stars, my husband and I would!! It’s absolutely perfect for what we need. We have two small vegetable beds topped with a heap of composite (banana peels, pineapple cores, a few coffee filters, and other assorted kitchen scraps from the past year) and it plowed through with ease without the loud noise and smell of a gas engine!! The biggest bonus is no more pull-start!!! Our dinosaur mini 2 hp gas tiller died last year and this is a great replacement. Hoping to still love it for a few years to come. Great price too ❤️

Good on clay with rocks
This thing is awesome. My yard is pure Carolina clay and full of stones. It did a great job. I did it after several days of rain so the soil was workable. Things I learned for these conditions: till smallest depth then go back on next depth, till one row then pick up rocks or the next row you do will cover them with dirt, if it bucks a lot it’s hit a big rock, there can be no one anywhere near it besides operator as it flings the big rocks to the side, small rocks it drops to side, do the pattern in the instructions. It did great with the rocks but a brick did bend a tine but it was an easy fix.

Did the job that I needed it to do on my garden. The job was done so quickly with this tool that I was impressed. I haven't had this tool for a very long time I just bought it about a couple weeks ago and it met every expectation.

Cheap plastic cord strap and poor handle designs
Plastic cord strap broke and handle clip undersize. Handle loop hole and U grip are too small for 12 gauge power cord. Doubtful even 14 gauge fits. Recommend watering ground 3 days prior to soften rock hard soil otherwise SunJoe cultivator jumps. Also remove rocks, stones from soil before tilling.

Amazing Tiller,
The power is great The tilling result is great But the handles are not durable, just not appropriate for the tiller itself. Need mettle handle component to suit the heavy duty work that the machine does.
