We have purchased two of these now for various cabin...
We have purchased two of these now for various cabin projects so clearly that is some sort of a testimonial. They are clean and efficient and the second one we altered to work on an all 12v solar hookup. They work well but I'm not sure how they justify the cost and you do need to keep a close eye on the urine level to prevent overflows which will burn out the fan.

I waited a long time for the perfect toilet - this is it.
This is the quintessential KISS toilet -"Keep It Simple Stupid". No gears to gum-up, no bells or whistles, just doing a great job of making composting simple and sustainable.
Dilute the urine 15:1 - water to urine, and it is safe to put directly on your flower/vegetable garden (urine is sterile, so no worries as long as it has not been contaminated with 'solid matter').
The 'solid matter' I compost for a year or two, and then use on my vegetable garden. Use common sense when handling this composting material, and you won't have any issues. I am over seventy years old, and have been doing this for decades without any problems, but you can't be casual about frequently emptying the system, and maintaining excellent hygiene habits.
Goodbye to all the other systems I have tried - the five gallon bucket being one of them, and, actually, second best - but so much more work/smell. We spent well over a thousand dollars on a couple 'self-composting' systems, and they an unmitigated mess. Remote composting is the way to go. By the way, I do put my toilet paper into the solid chamber, but once I'm at the remote composting site it is thoroughly mixed in with a pitchfork, and I haven't had problems with animals digging into it.

This is a compost toilet.
We were looking for a portable electric toilet that incinerates the waste. This toilet was advertised as portable waterless electric toilet. It's actually a compost toilet. We returned it immediately. Not what we wanted.

If I had it to do over I wouldn't buy...
If I had it to do over I wouldn't buy the Sun-Mar. Cons: 1. Cheaply made. Bad quality control. Came with misaligned hinges. 2. Textured plastic that's hard to clean. 3. Can't see liquid level without removing bottle. 4. Proprietary bottle. 5. No handle on lid. 6. Uncomfortable seat. Pros: Simple.

I expected more for the money.
This is a very basic unit. Really just a plastic board over a bucket with a fan. I am making it work despite its many flaws and in a way its simplicity is its best feature.
Pros: Simplicity. Easy to empty. Very easy to install - just 2 screws and a vent. That's it.
Cons: 1. Quality is low: the unit came with mis-aligned hinges. 2. The whole unit is made with a textured plastic that collects stains. It's very difficult to get any stain off. 3. No way to see if the pee bottle is near full without taking unit apart. 4. No cap for the bottle! 5. Have to get Sun-Mar bottle if you break original one. 5. No internal lid for the main waste bucket. 6. Waste bucket fits very loose so it knocks around when underway. 7. No handle on the lid so you have to get your fingernails under it to raise. 8. Seat is very uncomfortable.
